Blew the clutch in the 1890

All of the rivets holding the clutch to the yoke ripped right out! My local clutch guy said this replacement he had was better since it had springs to take the abuse and avoid the rivets from shearing off. I put it back together and tryed a 20" pine i had at the yard, everthing worked/chipped fine. What do you guys have to say? Its a "auto clutch" mounted to a bandit 1890

I mostly deal with transmissions and marine gears at work and don't work with much on the pto side of things. That being said I'm surprised to see an automotive style clutch on a chipper that size. @96coal449 None of our high hp stuff (that I know of) uses springs on the disc. That might be true with auto applications but not common with ptos.

Yes, thanks. (I did read that.)

Rivits as originally installed on that clutch seem to be able to experiece total failure. So (if) they are always rivits in high hp applications then, is there a higher grade of rivits a person could get and make sure your clutch doesn't desintegrate?
