How do you find such large drop zones on the main line?

Through competitive advantage... even though the drop zone is there, you got to be able to get the tree to it... There's just no way you can get from those videos how much back lean was involved.. By far the most I've ever done.. Some logger with a skidder and 50,000 lb winch wouldn't have thought twice, but not many arbs on the main line would have dropped those trees like that.
I did a great job for the homeowner on a couple big beaches last year, but on a 16K job, he still priced it out to 4 or more other companies, from what I was told... He took six months to get green light the job. None of those other 4 would have even dreamed of taking those monsters against the lean like that. They'd have had to rig out the tops and maybe more (or more likely have brought a crane into the back yard)... I bet he had prices of 25-30K, (which included a big twin lead tulip and two monster white oaks in the font yard as well as the three oaks shown in this vid).
That's why I get these jobs.. I can beat Rick's prices and still make $100/man/hour on jobs when I can drop a tree with good falling skills, but he'd have to bring in a crane or rig one down over the house etc.. Don't get em like that every day, but when they do come they're my bread and butter..
