Bid that tree!

We have started doing a flat day rate. People have been more receptive than I initially thought.

Repeat customers usually know our work and don't have a problem with this way of bidding. Saves a lot of time when it comes time to send out the quote. I tell them we expect the job to take x amount of time at x rate. With all the work itemized that we will do. This day rate includes wood removal aswell.
How does the crew feel about it?

Only 50’ from the road? That’s what cranes are for. $2100 and we would pick them from the street.
You wouldn't get the job around here at that number. Crane? really. I put $2400 on 3 aspens the other day didnt get the job. 3 much bigger similar situation, including stump grinding, in Boulder well to do neighborhood. Aspens are piss easy dead or alive.

These responses are super interesting to me. Around here aspens are some of the easiest money you can get. I've climbed and removed hundreds or maybe thousands idk they die off quick and people keep planting them.

I'm not the bravest climber by any means but have never been uncomfortable in an Aspen. Maybe because I grew up with them in the mountains, we'd climb them like poles where you push the soles of your feet against the trunk and wrap your hands around the back. Or go in the groves and push over big dead ones.

I think we had like 1640 on these trees. A very casual 4 hours at the most for 2 guys. I was stoked, but it has been a slow summer.
