Better capitalism?

Think of it like this Glenn. Gov is the tree and there are many associates that benefit underneath that tree that you dont even see or know about. As this tree gets bigger and more out of control it overgrows and controls the other trees struggling under it, only allowing them so much light. Kinda something like that. Nothing personal bro just a discussion here. At the end of the day we are all still in this rat race. When or if the sh*t hits the fan it will be my fellow man by my side not some bureaucrat!

the data is plain to see. Do you not know congress has tax payer health care? Look it up you can see what congress and there associates make. The white house is the biggest public housing project in this country!!!

Awe, nothing like some good ol' social-political-economy talk.
I tend to think that it doesn't matter what represented government gets in, as they are all getting backed by big business. I think the business and wealthy in question is not in terms of millions but billions and trending upwards. That's a vast difference to those who make hundreds of thousands a year which is in sharp contrast to what the working poor make. And in terms of capital, once a very large sum of money is reached, that capital is just reinvested into turning more profit to accumulate more wealth. Repeat cycle, hence why the rich get richer. Obviously business is essential to conduct our lives on so many levels and the majority of businesses are great. It's when they get bought out or turn into mega monopolies and when the wealth gets consistently concentrated in the 1% that I consider it a problem (It's actually more like .001%).
As far as government is concerned I wouldn't mind paying taxes so much if the money was spent for the betterment of society but a lot of times it is towards corporate subsidies, the war machine, and bureaucracy.
And on workers getting higher standards of living in forms of pay, working conditions or benefits, that usually, not always, comes from direct actions from workers demanding it.
I think it would be grand if all workers had a living wage and it most likely would lead to a better economy and ironically still make more capital for the extreme wealthy. Win win even using the current economic model.
Good discussion to bring to the buzz when your laid up treehumper. You have time to do research on all sorts of things. Kudos to your daughter. Hope the recovery is going well.

Twig, I don't think you comprehend what "most wealthiest" means, as you ineloquently phrased it. National politicians are generally wealthy, but they are far, far, from being the wealthiest Americans.

jim454, please photograph my full-sized poster over your headboard and post it here. You don't need to hide your fascination, it's ok, we're all just products of our genetics and environment.

Also, I don't usually drink Pabst Blue Ribbon, but I would honestly make an exception for you at the next Hannah Montana fan club conference.

Glenn, please don't push your fantasies with the poster on us. Sounds like you really want to see it, asking Jim to post it and all.

Unfortunately, the poster didn't last too long. We're out of toilet paper.
