Best Rope Ever!

I've tried most of the climbing lines on the market.

But I always go back to Yale red and white 16 strand.Same rope for split tail(blakes hitch- best friction hitch ever!)

This is rope I rely on for those high tricky rigging removals.

Just feels like an old friend you can trust - solid and reliable.
Know what i mean?

Looks like Yale's 'Blaze' is proving to be the most popular rope amongst Buzzheads.
I've never used this rope could someone who uses it tell me why its better than regular 16 strand climbing line.
thanks.

Axe,
In my opinion it's got better knot control and being a thinner line it works great with mechanical devices. It's got a great feel to it. It's a little bit harder to hold on to than a 1/2 inch but it's a little bit lighter when you have a long bit of rope. It's great stuff.

I've been on Velocity for over two years now and i love it-
UNLESS IT RAINS!!!!!!! Bit tricky to grip when slimy and wet. Watch your fingers if you climb without gloves, the 24 strand outer tends to get a bit abrasive and can glaze your fore fingers quite nicely . MMMMM, steak!!!
Weirdly the blue Velocity has never milked but the new Orange has milked over two feet. Anyone know why???

I've always wanted to try velocity until I got my hands on it in a store and felt the 'sure grip' coating. That tacky feel might be good for gripping your hands, but might it lend its gripping quality to the tree branch/crotch? I supose it can't be too bad or they wouldn't make it like that.

I've climbed on 1/2inch 12 strand nylon, which feels awesome but the nylon wears quickly, glazes and once fuzzy, the fall line acts like velcro to shaggy bark. Arbormaster has served me well for two seasons though I find it to have too much elongation/bounce. My new favourite line is Petzel 'Vector' 11mm; it's a static line (no elongation), is rock solid/round, a little stiff which helps prussik performance and is light weight. (just be very carefull due to its lack of shock absorption).

How's True Blue for a climbing line? Anyone ever use Wall's Pro Stripe or Tree Pro Red?

Also... just put 150 feet of 7/16inch Amsteel on the chipper winch. The winch spool fits 75 feet of steel cable, but 150 feet of amsteel at the same diameter!? I supose the plyable rope snugs down nicer, hence the difference. But man that difference!... feather light with a strength rating beyond belief. I'll keep you posted on it's characteristics and performance as it gets used.

Hey gaiatree, keep winches out this thread, climbing ropes for climbing only!
True Blue is ok for climbing if you can't find anything else, but it feels more like a small bullrope.

Velocity, and Black widow, I put 300' of it on my winch, real nice.

Hey No Bivy!
Why you putting these types of ropes on a winch!

Sterling Rope 10mm SuperStatic HTP

As your main climbing line????!!!!
What friction hitch or mech. device you using?

If I was to hang off a a 10mm rope of any description in a work situation I just would not feel safe.

I know the rope can take my weight but the look of it would just freak me out, and must be hard on your hands like trying to climb on cheesewire!

Anyway.... goodluck with it!

I didnt know you were the mod?

I like Blaze for over all characteristics, i use safety blue white alot at work, takes more "abuse" better than blaze. And i use the fly for my mechanical operations.

That amsteel is really impressive stuff, Let us know how it works in your winch, my guess would be better than the cable.
