Best Rake

I really like the Groundskeper rake and it's all I use.

I also use it in the vegetable garden to cultivate and kill thousands of weeds when the are only a 1/4 inch tall. Just a quick surface rake early on a dry day.

Groundskeper is great for all of that...but cleaning up small debris and leaves in the yard, a 32" wide plastic rake beats it all day long.

Like many other things, there probably isn't one rake to rule them all.

Have you guys seen Blair Glenn's idea for a big pusher? Seems easy and cheap enough to be worth trying

It only takes a few minutes.

I produce a lot of sawdust doing removals because I don't have the equipment to move big wood. So everything has to be cut into manageable pieces. I rake up as much as possible and then use the blower to scatter the rest.

Bucking so that your bulk of saw chips end up on a tarp is better than raking it up, IME.

I work where it's most common to have a rough area/ forested area to blow saw chips, thankfully.

I'd be all over a metal rake, IF they made the wide. I look for the widest rakes I can find.

We don't grind stumps, so don't need to move much heavy rakings.

We do blow the lawn periodically, depending on how messy the particular tree(s) was (were). Almost all pruning, very few removals, so not so much saw dust, but there are always branches, leaves, etc... Like you said @flushcut - want it to look like we were never there. Sometimes its a little depressing that the biggest complement we get is how good of a job we did cleaning up - I would rather they notice that we did a great job taking care of their trees! (most clients do...but there are others where I think someone could top their trees, and as long as the lawn looks good, they'd be happy.

Cleaning up the mess I made often expands into cleaning up the surrounding mess that was already there. Blending in the edges is an art.

The a.m Leonard rake hold up the best but performance is not as well. The lifetime warranty free about 5 returns which to me doesn’t mean a thing because they don’t stand behind them!

Very true. I had a groundie who would rake extra whenever he wasn’t needed. I sure mis all of the tips we used to get.

That's surprising. I expected the telescoping mechanism to fail first. As a tall guy, I would like a long handle on all my tools, but that's seldom a stock option.

I didn't look at it. I just assumed that if someone bothered to make a telescoping handle that they would throw us tall people a bone.
