Best Practices for SRT in Arboriculture

The sharper teeth can pick at a rope jacket if not used properly. When using certain low diameter static lines that are very firm when loaded, the sharper teeth will be much more responsive. For removal, it's best lift ascender while pushing the cam towards the rope.

As far as best practice, the important component is to use all gear as recommended by the manufacturer. When it comes to rope and cams, it's best to be reading the user manuals for each.

Well I couldn't wait. I got a copy sent to me from Tree Stuff. Excellent publication, backs up some of the practices I have in place and introduces new and innovative methods and tech. Everyone involved in getting this great book to me is to be congratulated.
I'll get a chance to get into it shortly, any questions I'll drop you a line Donny.

I just recieved my copy from treestuff this week very good quality, great information and photos will help me progress my SRWPing. Cheers Donny and Luke @ Treestuff.

Hi Donny,

Could you tell me what brand the bear paw is the used in most of the Basal Anchor pictures in the SRT BPFA manual. It has a far superior chamfer on the rigging holes than any I have seen and as such I'd believe it would be a fair bit friendlier on gear.

Hello,
The rigging plate is made by CT (Climbing Technologies). It is part of the basal anchor sling sold by TreeStuff as a complete package along with 25' of Tachyon and a piece of prussick cord (Samson 9mm cordage). Great little anchor sling.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Cheers,
Donny
