best climbing boots?

I’m sold on Makalus and Karakorum from La Sportiva.

If you wear a 10.5 medium width I got a pair of Georgia loggers I’ve been meaning to put on TreeBay. I’m thinking 75$ shipped, brand new without box, brown leather, steel toe, insulated. I can get a pic tomorrow.

im short about $50 on what I can spend, any way you could hold em for a while?

I might try something, paint me stupid, but I might make a steel in-sole for the boots I have, since I have a sheet of 14ga mild steel, and a plasma cutter, then put my normal in-sole, or some sheepskin on top of the plate for a cushion.

I know it wont be comfortable, but its free, and might make a difference, if it works good, ill be taking orders :ROFLMAO:

You seem to have a very bad habit of asking for advice from trained professionals, then completely disregarding the trained professionals when they are kind enough to give you sound advice..... Might want to work on that son?
im looking at buying some nice boots, BUT I dont have $2-400 to drop on boots right now, maybe in a few weeks/months, but, for now im gonna try what I have, and make due till I can afford better stuff, im sure you've done this before (No offence), you were my age once.

I suppose, I could get a job, but im limited to 3hr a day, and dont have a car, or a drivers license, so its not much of an option

Did you say in another thread that you’re 14?
Your feet will probably grow a little more, I wouldn’t shop for a 250$+ pair of boots just yet. Thrift stores, eBay, and local online marketplaces will get you something usable probably. Maybe a pair of surplus combat boots. My old Bellville gortex desert boots were not great for spurs, but it wasn’t agony, and they’re not bad for spurless.

I am 14, and yes, my feet, if they are anything like my dads are going to grow allot more, and thats another reason I
dont want to spend so much on boots right now, seeing that, id be lucky to get 2 years out of them.
I might see about a good set at a thrift store next time I go

What kind of tree work are you doing at 14 with no mode of transportation?

what about getting a pair of hiking boots, sticking to rec climbs without spurs and when you’re old enough to work get a job with a legit company to learn first hand?
work at home, we have 5 acres, half is wooded, LOTS of work, I usually run SRT or DRT, but thats on the small trees near the house, towards the back, on our trails, he have some that a climb line isnt much of an option, plus I wanted to learn spikes

Why is a climbing line not much of an option? Even with spikes you should have a life line for ascent, particularly if you’re learning and more so if you are 14 having at it alone.

I can run one on a choke type setup with SRT, but I cant set one from the ground usually, due to the lowest limbs over 4" being 80-100ft off the ground, when what im working on is only 20-30ft but its either dead, or to small, I run the choked SRT whenever I can tho

Where do you live that the lowest TIP is that height?

consider investing in line setting devices if you’re considering climbing trees of that size. There’s no reason to spike a tree that’s not being removed with what’s available. A big shot is cheaper than anything being discussed.

take it slow. You’re young, and should have a mentor.

east tn, we have lots of small trees that srt and drt work great, but also lots of large ones back away from the house, I might try to find a pic tomorrow.

the large ones are mainly oak and poplar, 110-150ish ft tall, 2-4ft dbh.

Sorry, helping me isnt easy, since almost nothing that I do is "Normal"
my gear, location, trees, its all a variable, that is hard to convey over text

A solos are a pretty good budget friendly option. That’s what I rolled my first 4 years of climbing. Sierra trading post usually has them and they run about $150 a pair. Easily get a year out of them.

I dont see anything about steel shank, how stiff are they? since im lighter that most climbers, they dont have to be super stiff, but stiffer than a normal boot is nice

at this point, im willing to try about anything if its gonna help the foot pain, its not bad till im back in the ground and start walking, then its terrible
