Beech Take down again.

Yes, sometimes its usefull to keep the block away from the stem, especially in the case of secondary blocks like the one you mention. The two cuts before hand it work just fine, and the load goes where I want it.

It flips up due to slight error in cutting angle. Generally a loose block will orentate itself better with the load so you can move round the tree cutting at increasing angles to the secondary block and it kind of follows you round.

The main block which should be at the highest point in your rigging system and on a stronger part of the tree should in most cases be snugged up tight, but after that the blocks can be wherever you want and tieing them loose alows them to be a foot or so away from a stem if thats waht you need. Of course the flap around and as in this case flip up, but as long as that doesn't compromise the overall sytem (or hit you the face) then its not the end of the world and hardly noteworthy IMO.

I had been meaning to put up some pics and the rest of the videos for this job but I got distracted!!

In the pics I've marked roughly where the blocks go using the correct colour for each block, hope it makes some sense!!

Once the three main blocks were in place I only had to move one of them once later on as it wasn't quite right for the whole job, but other than that the initial set up was good for the duration.

The red blocks gets moved around a bit and then not used later on at all.

Pic after the first bit of rigging. This was just to clear the awkward stuff over the railing and pillars.

After that we worked in the rear of the tree and rigging everything into the garden which was much easier..

Good stuff there. Impressing the world one click at a time. I like that set up. When I was watching the original video I was thinking that you had two pulleys. But I see there was more. I haven't use multiples like that before. My first thought of the vid, besides it looked cool, was your ground guy was doing an exallent job. Kept the rope running smooth, keeping every thing away from you and seem like he kept you going too. When you first got gain on a couple of small limbs, I was wandering what you was using? Then I saw it, and I am glad. I have been wanting to see the GRCS. I like that, alot! Nice system you got going there Rupe! I am going to have to show that video to my dad!

Rupe thank you very much for taking the time and documenting your work for us. Very nicely done on that Beech!

Love watching the rigging being set and the cuts being made.

You guys sure get to work on some massive Beech trees over there.
