Beech from the archives

Put this up on youtube to email to an old friend, thought I'd throw it out here while it was up.

This job was for a farmer who lives in the house behind the Beech, we used his tractor to help pull the tree over and a few round hay bales to stop any damage to a tarmac access road. He kept all the timber for firewood and burnt the brushwood in the field....as you'd expect from a farmer.

That looked like some pretty excessive, not to mention unnecessary pruning Grover.

Care to explain why you clearly cut the apical meristem with your first cut??????????????????????????????

nice video.

that tree Collapsed.

reminds me of doing an autopsy on a soldier... you see how many wounds he was living with and you wonder how he was even standing up before he was brought down.

nice to see scotland too, land of my ancestors.

just got that beech, blank it, bingo joke... good one jomoco!

cheers for the comments folks

Did the fence survive?!

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah, both fences, a section of the wooden one beside the tree was removed after the notch was made, the livestock fence in the field was re assembled by the farmer after the clearup I presume.

That's the farmer in the red boiler suit (1st photo)standing by the tree saying, 'you dont need to remove that fence just crash the tree on top of it'

we were like, 'no, no.....it's fine....it wont take a minute to dismantle this section'

Awesome vid Grover! Great job on the tree, spectacular landscape and I imagine a touch of the local whisky at the end of the day would be fitting. I really miss winter like that.
