For what it's worth. I personally just think that best practices should be more like best laws punishable by steep fine/jail time. Lol. I mean. There's so much debate and attitude in so many forms about the whole CA thing. Why not just make a standard? Industry specific and countrywide. If an arborist is an arborist then he/she shall perform work that reflects such. Certified by a test, board, whatever else or not. The proof would be in the pudding so to speak, would it not? I have seen non CA's prove easily their right to call themselves an arborist. On the Flipside seen CA's seriously make me raise an eyebrow and say to myself, really? Hmmmm. Lol. I know someone on here must have experienced similar and know what I mean. Anyway, I feel like a lot of the debate about stuff like this is much too overthought. I just kind of feel like tree works in general should be governed you know? Tree operations kept track of, and require documentation of where they take/have taken place. (IF, what we who call ourselves arborists truly care about is the trees, not only money or being a part of a club.)
That way they can be inspected, and quickly assessed by someone who is simply qualified to make sure things are done to a reasonably common and up to date standard. Either as a tree operation takes place or after it has been completed. THEN, if not done to said standard, the company owner/crew be held accountable and face the consequences. Certified or not... Then watch the numbers of the shitheads, needless removals, and mangled trees drop dramatically I would imagine. I could be wrong. I am not saying that I have it all figured out or anything and also hope that no one takes offense to anything I have said in this post.
Just some of my thoughts. Stay safe and be well everyone.
