Battery powered pruners

Hey everyone,

I have a few jobs coming up that I could use a power pruner for. Does anybody have experience using the battery powered versions of the Stihl or Husqy extensible power pruners?

I've seen a view of the promo videos and they both seem underwhelming powerwise. I'm hoping to demo a unit in the near future.

Are they any good? Any feedback would be great. Thanks

Wish I could help you out on the pole pruner, but I don't own one. I do, however, have a Husqvarna battery top handle. I'm pretty impressed with it. No, it doesn't have the power a 201 has, but that wasn't the intention. It's a great little deadwood and pruning saw. And you don't have to pull the cord to start it or mess with gas. Press a button and go. I even use it on most removals. Plenty of power for that.

We picked one up about a year ago - Stihl. Head seems a little heavy at first only because of how little weight is in the battery area compared to the gas motor (balance thing). I was thinking I would not like it, used it for a week as a demo - bought one the week after. Battery life hasn't been an issue at all using it for trail corridors cutting back low branches. Overall I have been impressed with it.

Good to hear, thanks. How would you compare it to a gas powered unit?
