Bartlett Tree Co. ????

I have been working for Bartlett for about a year now and have been very pleased. The pay is good, benefits are good, they supply all of your climbing gear, and the equipment is nice for the most part. In my office, and I believe company wide, safety and quality of work are very important. They do expect a high level of production which can be frustrating at times. Overall it is a good company to work for.

Thanks everyone for your response. To the question, why was I asking about Bartlett, I'll be glad to tell you. To begin with, I highly value your opinions. I believe in the concept of peer review. Along with the few irresponsible no life losers who constantly haunt this forum because they have nothing else to do, there is also the larger group, who are the best, most knowledgeable, thoughtful and talented tree service professionals in the world. Why Bartlett? I was looking at tree service websites to get ideas that might work for Poteet Tree Service. I came across Bartlett and was very impressed. From their website I found out they're coming up on their 100 year anniversary! Three or four generations? Now that's remarkable. That sparked my curiosity as to what you guys might think of them. I know this is counter intuitive, but I believe intraindustry criticism or peer review is a more accurate indicator of long-term survivability than the current balance sheet, the latest customer service rating or how long you've been in business. I used to work for them a few years ago. My thoughts on them, If I were not able to do my own tree work I would hire them to do it for me. And I am particular on my trees.

i've been working for Bartlett close to 4 years and don't see myself leaving. I really enjoy the larger company it offers more than a small company in the aspect of growth with in. But as we all know some people enjoy the smaller, close knit company.

That says a lot right there.

I'm surprised by all the positive feedback on Bartlett. I too was recommended Bartlett when looking for a place to work, but ended up landing a job with a different (smaller) tree company. I guess I've always viewed large corporations as a sort of negative thing, but it seems in this case it doesn't have to be.

I work for them as well, There is a good layout as far as the company goes, from my experience they have a bunch of smaller companies together to make one big company. And at the upper echelons, they are all real down to earth tree guys.

I work for them as well in the same office as Alves and there is not a better company to work for in the country in my opinion. Great training and people who do our work and of course safety is number one, two, three, four....you get the point.

Hi Dale- I got from your response that you were looking at Bartlett for the website, and/or company structure? Business model? A few other larger companies you might check out would be Davey Tree Expert Company and The Care of Trees. A recent fast growing company in Greenville, SC is Schneider Tree Care. I beleive they have a website as well. The owner of that company is Eric Schneider, who is also on the TCIA board. I met him a few times. Seems like a nice guy. Must be a good businessman.
