Bandit 12xpc hydraulic filter Napa replacement

evo

Been here much more than a while
Location
My Island, WA
I’m pulling my hair out looking for a replacement hydraulic filter. The one on the machine is painted with bandit info but no part number. It’s looks like a napa filter. The only numbers on it are 21-200-07

I’d really like to just run to the local store and get what I need vs online shopping/dealer stuff.

Also looking for a cross reference number for a Donaldson p564357 off the Vermeer mini.

Have you tried calling your bandit dealer to see what the filter might be? They may be able to give you a Donaldson number for it, I learned from our dealer recently that there are a number of filter options, but they can be tracked by serial number from the manufacturer.

Good call! Bandit let me know it’s a 1551 napa.

After calling Vermeer they just kept trying to sell me the Donaldson. They couldn’t help, but I found three different cross reference numbers, called napa and ran all four part numbers, none had a napa cross reference number. So me thinks and so does the counter worker that napa just doesn’t make one to those specs!

Great! I’ve found Bandit to be pretty helpful. And I’m not surprised Napa does not make a filter for the Vermeer, Vermeer has a reputation for making proprietary parts. A Google search leads me to believe that is true, the only numbers that filter seems to cross with are other Donaldson rebrands.

Parts guys at Bandit are great. Not as great as at DW though… How do you like the new chipper?
I’m loving it for the most part… the dealer had me by the short and curlies. Massive things that were “different”. Like the color, lack of any of the rear jack stands (paid for custom). When back and forth with them for days on a custom weld on feed tray that’s about 12” shorter from feed wheels to edge of feed table. Bandit just welded on a normal tailgate style feed tray, that actually pisses me off, as I don’t get the benefits and all the draw backs. So basically I have to cut the welds and make it a normal tail gate, cut it shorter, or get the right one welded on..

Dealer just said “we don’t know what we are going to get, until we get it”…. Basically the attitude was well you can buy it or wait another 6+ months and see what the price is then. Only contestation is they offered to weld on the rear jack stands at no cost….

Other than that the machine is great in functionality, a few loose nuts, it’s a fuel hog!

The other thing was the dealer made a huge point on the 360 discharge. When demoing get said “you have to be very careful, and don’t turn the shoot more than 45 degrees off the tounge otherwise you’ll plug it up”. So why stress I pay the extra and then tell me I can’t use the feature.. ?

Very glad I didn’t go bigger, the weight to power is just what I need.. I haven’t pushed it around much with the mini, but any heavier the I’d need a bigger mini and a bigger truck

Also call me a princess but if you sell someone a machine and require the hydraulic filter be changed in the first 10 hours, you should toss them a spare filter
First ten hours? That’s a new one to me! Usually it’s just “change at 500 as normal”!

Yeah suppose to for any chance of metal filings or the such left over in the manufacturing
Makes sense, I guess, it just seems to me there shouldn’t be that much junk, but what do I know? Either way, spend that much on a machine and a free filter would be nice!

Really?? That's super disappointing to hear... The chute on my Vermeer BC1000 rotates probably 320* (about every angle but right back at the feed-table) and I use that ability frequently due to shooting piles of chips for customers so often. In the 4+ years I've owned it, I've never once clogged the chipper in any way. A 12" Bandit with a winch is on my shopping list eventually, but that would be a HUGE downside for me.

You are looking at 56-58k new… I haven’t tested it yet and think it can do better, but with the angle of this out feed system I can see the concern

Yah, that price is about what I was expecting. I thought I was going to buy one this year, but ended up buying the 4x4 chiptruck instead, then..... 5 acres of land which I need to run power, build a water system, do septic, build a 1,500sq ft shop and finally something to live in all at the same time, hopefully within a year... Honestly a new chipper has fallen down the priority list quite a ways, when my current chipper does 85% of what I want already.

Ok so here’s one for the mind hive. The new chipper is powered by a 90 Hp Ford gasser.
My fuel options are regular at the pump 89 octane Or 92 e-free. Anyone know about these newer gas industrial engines care to chime in on octane vs e-free?
Not being mechanical inclined beyond the basics I don’t know the trade offs.

I asked about a specific Donaldson Hyd filter and the guys at the hydraulic shop looked at me like I was nuts. Possibly all Hyd filters have the same size hole, threads, and gasket.

Anyone who wants to avoid the weak throwing of chips when chute is turned toward side or back of the machine should avoid the drum. Disk chipper models throw hard 360° - as I understand it.

My understanding is that there SHOULD be no difference in performance between them. However, as I am not fond of ethanol in fuel, we run only ethanol free gasoline in everything (all small engines, and our one gasoline powered truck.)

Probably either will be fine, running e-free won’t hurt your engine, and may give you a little better fuel economy, but likely it will cost more with no real gains.

The Donaldson filter is on the mini, and it’s about twice as tall as the hydraulic filter on the chipper.
