bad Chinese rope

I sure am glad that our previous President helped them get so much closer to nukes. Buy American at every option!!!

Never Forget September 11th, 2001.

China's first test of a nuclear device took place on October 16, 1964, at the Lop Nur test site. China's last nuclear test was on July 29, 1996.

Which previous president are you talking about? Did Rush tell you that fact?

You´d be surprised to see how many high quality and price brands that have their products made in china. Are you 100% sure that New England don´t have any of their production done in China?
Cheers

you can list the things made in america anymore on one foot. americans are not taught anymore how to make stuff. I think part of it too is that we americans have gotten so used to living good that we feel entightled to other people doing all the work. Americans it seems cant even wash their own clothes, cook their own food, or take care of their own home. Then we complain when the people we hire to do all this stuff live in china or come in from mexico. Shoot nobody is taking these jobs from americans. Americans it seems just have better things to do, like drive around and shop.

I think it would be interesting to buy a few chineese ropes and break test them.
the shoes I am wearing are pretty good. they were made in china. much better than the american made version on the market (no such thing).

Play nice EP! Don't spoil comfy one liners by bringing histroical facts into the mudslinging contest....

Of course I'm talking about Clinton.

I'm not saying that Clinton gave them nukes, but he (and his people) gave them technology that advanced their knowledge and capabilities on the subject tremendously. All in exchange for great donations to their personal and campaign coffers. Treasonous.

Possibly, but back in the years under the dark cloud of Clinton, my favorite source of information was the late Mark Scott, a local host from Detroit. He was all about libertarianism and other "radical" philosophies.

Regardless, all of Clinton's underhanded dealings with the Chinese are what fostered my dislike and suspicion of all products Chinese. Infrequently have my suspicions been proven wrong.

I have no doubt that over time their manufacturing quality will improve. It will most likely be like the change in Japanese stuff from the 70's to now. I agree that had I been born 20-years earlier, I probably would have felt the same about Japanese products as I do now about Chinese. That said, I still won't buy any critical life safety stuff made in China.

Oddly though, I use a lot of Petzl, even though I hate the French too ....

I am sorry for not making my initial post more clear. It is not the country of origin as much as it is the importer that brings defective product to the market. We really on them to test and certify that what they advertise is the truth. Many manufactures use offshore companies for their products. The good ones test it for your protection.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
I hope you have a traditional American-style thanksgiving and don't burn the turkey like "A Christmas Story".

If you do that, you might find yourself eating at a CHINESE restaurant;)

the turkey wasnt burnt, it was eating by the neighbors dogs

True. It was a hasty post. My mind was making a slurry of several movies (all Christmas):
The Santa Clause: Burnt turkey put out with fire extinguisher.
Christmas Vacation: Turkey overcooked into leather.
A Christmas Story: Turkey issue results in dinner at Chinese restaurant.

Sorry for the off-topic posts.

To sum it up for me: China has a long way to go in quality, durability and reputation before I buy any personal safety equipment from them.

I wonder what a burn test would show of this fraudulent rope?
--that it was (mostly) multi-filament PP (which pretty much has the
look & feel of nylon/polyester)?

The tendency to generalize, be it by nationality, race, or party affiliation
(these days i.p.), is best resisted. Esp. for Americans, who have put in
power such arrogance as Cheney-Bush-Gonzales, bringing shame and
disrespect--"preemptive war" (what Hitler & Japan fought) & torture
(but, oh, let's not be impolictic and call it THAT)--to our country's once
good name. And who's holding ANYone to account? "liberal press" my
[censored]; **commerical press**. Holy Haliburton, Batman!

Recently the founder of both the MIT Media Lab & now One-Laptop-Per-Child
was on C-SPAN; he asserted that, like this amazingly capable and cheap
computer, 40-50% of ALL laptops were made in "China". Now, I'm not sure
which "China" this is (Taiwan or mainland), but it's Over There.

I grew up when "Made in Japan" was the joke.
Who's laughing now?

As for the French,
they were RIGHT!
Weapons of Mass Deception it was. How many times did we NOT get
the truth out of Cheney? --still ... ?

And so many seem willing to even TALK about "attacking Iran",
but afraid to speak of impeachment. Which is better,
and to the point?
