Hey All,
I've been working with the ranger at our Council Camp for the past 11 years to address the trees at camp. There are a lot of them and as you can imagine a bit overwhelming for one man, even two, to deal with.
Anyhow, as we always do on Memorial Day and Labor Day my family and a few friends spend the weekend at the camp doing some of the tree work.
This weekend was no different but I did engage the ranger in some brain storming to find ways to help get the tree work in a proactive mode.
What we came up with is the possibility of hosting a labor day event where we invite arbos and their families to come and camp for the weekend and include one day of tree work for the camp.
The camp is located in Eden Vermont and is about a 60 minute drive from I89 in Burlington, VT and 35 minute drive from I89 in Waterbury Vermont.
There is plenty of space for tents, campers and RV's and there would be a number of 4-bunk leantos available.
So, with that in mind, I'd like to ask you folks your opinions on a couple of questions so we could formulate a plan to present to Council for approval.
So here goes:
Would such an event interest you?
Would making it a family camping weekend make it more interesting to you?
If a BBQ dinner and/or lunch were provided on the work day would that make any difference in your interest in participating.
To allow travel time and work time, the event will likely be held on Labor Day Weekend. Would that affect your interest one way or another?
Would a different weekend in September or early October be better?
Though chippers, bucket trucks and cranes have not been needed, if you had one, would you have any interest in it?
ThanX for any input you can offer.
