At the end of my rope!

Cut myself with the Zubat due to the same thing. Now I tap the back side of the blade on the tree trunk to clear chips and bark before seating it in the scabbard. Similar to gunning the chainsaw after a big cut.

I've also had certain hand saws stick out of the bottom end of the scabbard and cause problems. I like a well-fitting scabbard where you can feel the saw lock into place.

I'll have to give that other Silky a try next time Swingdude.

I don't know if this would work for pruning through denseness but for removal work I've been liking my $3 welding rod leather belt pouch. Bought one out of desperation when I broke a plastic scabbard. I'm on my second one after wearing out the first. Got about a 7' length of shredded throwline on it as a lanyard as it falls out a fair bit. It's a quick draw holster is the plus.

oceans when I use my big saw anymore I usually put it atop spar engine off get in position for next cut then reach up and get the 395 or 372 with long lanyard as I don't care for the added weight pulling on my saddle. I'm usually not taking 36" stuff huge so 2 to 4 foot sections I can reach my saw and make cut! I feel blocking for me is faster taking smaller chunks out shoving them off instead of fooling with all the rigging in most cases and a few bags of topsoil is cheaper than extra time rigging imho.

Hands down, one of my favorite videos, ever.

Looks like they put a stay in it, along with numerous load straps. Rather sketchy from afar, but imagine what his weight would account for even on a dead stem like that. It's the rigging they really nailed. LOTS of rope.

I meant how did it stand dead for so long before they even showed up.

I think it was just waiting...holding out with every last rotten root fiber, just in hopes that Graeme & Co would come in and take it down with ultimate dignity.
