I am looking into buying a new 200 foot access line and I am leaning towards either New England escalator or Teufelberger platinum and was wanting thoughts or opinions, my primary ascent system is the rope wrench with a pantin on my right foot and the petzl ascentree with a foot loop to my left, while this will be primarily just an access line I will most likely be using it with the wrench for working on ocassion as well.

Been using KMIII 10mm with the wrench for a few months now and really liking it.

Sterling htp. Seriously. It will change your life for the better. Girls will notice you walking down the street, tasks that were once difficult now are done with ease, all thanks to htp.

The Escalator is a really light rope, and it is difficult using the wrench and pantin without a weight at the bottom of the rope. I have also found that it is a stiff rope, maybe I just have not used it enough, but I dont like its stiffness, not supple at all. I have not used Platinum yet, but I got to handle it a little bit and it seems pretty supple and nice.

I have a 150 of 11mm htp and I had the same of escalator. Escalator seems to have a little less stretch and is much more stiff out of the box. For ascent and work I would go with the htp. If it was only footlocking and ascent it is a toss up. Htp works better with ascenders imo and escalator footlocks better due to the weight. Platinum just seems too small to work on with a wrench or other device plus its pricey. I had a 10mm htp and the only thing I liked it for was ascent.

I used HTP for over a year footlocking, rope walker, and rope wrench. It was great for rope walking, but it was a bit too heavy for FL. Also it concerned me that if I took a fall while on the wrench it would be too static and would hurt. This i why i wench on a tachyon.

A couple of months ago I switched to Platinum. I love it for FL (much lighter than HTP)and rope walker, but I have yet to rope wrench on it. I will have to give it a try but I don't see why it wouldn't work well. I do like the thought of platinum not being so static and cushioning the blow of a fall.

When I used tachyon with the wrench it became really wire like but that was also with the zk-1 and i been running on fly since ive had my zk2 but fly stays nice and supple and I'm wondering if platinum will stay supple as well seeing as how it can't milk, any one run the wrench on platinum that can input?
