Arborwear

I just got a pair of tech pants. They feel good on. I washed them one time and the belt loop on the left hip pulled right off. I look at the tag made in china WTF. One of the reasons I got these in the first place was the arborwear web site says made buy tree guys I am thinking USA.That just pisses me off. Not so much that I paid $80 for a pair of pants, that the belt loop pulled right off but made in china

I know your pain. I have noticed a decline in quality of arborwear clothing as well. I had the first generation "original tree climbers pants" and they were rugged and held up for a while. I finally tore them and ordered another pair and noticed a big differnce in the material. Also the sewing has come undone it two of my arborwear pants crotches and my arborwear vest pocket

I'm less than satisfied at this point but, I did buy a pair of stretch air pants and those seams have begun to show signs of wear and ive only had them for two weeks!!!

Is there a comfortable alternative out there that still allow us to move around?

I've had a bad lot of Arborwear T-shirts. "Very tough, very comfortable outdoor gear", yeah right. I recently purchased 5 AW tees and four of them are ripped. I have Dickies tees from 2 years ago that don't have holes in them! Also, AW shirts are unpredictable in the shrink factor... two shrunk like crazy and the others are fine.

Don't have any complaints about the pants. I do wish AW was made in the US.

Try the "tech" style pants EMS makes. I have had 2 pairs for 2 years. I took one pair back after a year. The salesman at the time of purchase made a crack......I wear these ice climbing, and have spiked them with my crampons and nothing has happened. I caught mine on a tooth of the saw with the chain brake on. I pulled hard thinking the saw was caught in a twig and felt the rip. I wore them back in and made a crack back........guess your crampons aren't as sharp as my saw? lol The guy made me take them off and replaced them for free! I wasn't even complaining! What a great outfit! And great comfortable, breathable, wicking, pants!

Only $40!

i live in arborwear, mostly double-front original, and have for years. the only complaint i have has more to do with my pointy butt bones than the quality of the pants. ok, that and the fact that when i traded in my phone for a blackberry the scrench pocket was too small. if you have a complaint, my suggestion would be to email bill and give him a chance to make it right before you badmouth a small business. this is a company with integrity, not some huge corporate monolith that doesn't give a crap.

my two cents.
k.

I agree w/ K.
I had a pair of Orig. double knee (last year)that was showing some wear just above the cuffs, after 6 mo.
I mentioned it to them ..... Just for their info.
They "offered" to replace; no questions !

My intent was not to badmouth them. I stated that I liked the pants. But the integrity part I do question. I take pride in the fact that I buy American made when I can. That is why I shelled out $80. Also as you stated they are a small business, again I buy my food at the family owned stores to support local stores. It just pisses me off that these pants are made in China by some 8 year old for 6 cents a day.

I've got 5 pairs of the arborwear pants that I rotate through. They wear so long that I believe they have a lower usage cost per day than brand name jeans from Walmart and the double thickness knees are just great!

emailed him about the problem 2 months ago and have heard nothing, emailed them about my vest in january and they told me to contact sherill who sold it to me to try and get a new one, after being bounced around, i decided to stitch it up myself, instead of having to wait a week to get another one sent to me

im not bad mouthing, im simply pointing out that there product is inferior to what they used to have, thus stateing a fact. after spending the kind of money ive spent on there clothes, i think im entitled to be a bit angry about the situation

Sorry to hear your opinion has been twisted about Arborwear. Ironic because there's a pun or two in here about laundry. But here at TreeBuzz, we will help you find a way to clean it up.

I have to use the appropriate course of action when I need to get a reasonable response. A phone call looks like the right tool in this case. In all likeliness, when calling AW, you'll get a person in Ohio, and not a phone bank in... In any case, its an opportunity to make new friends and acquaintances to solve a problem.

Hope to hear "...the Rest of The Story..."

I agree with Jim, worth trying a phone call over email... although contacting ANY company these days through voice mail systems is a royal pain.

It's hard to find clothing made in the US any more, it's labor intensive and US labor is pricey. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, that's just the way our economy is evolving. You can get high quality from China but the QA has to be done by the original designer or it will creep.

I wear double fronts and I love'em. The single fronts are OK... I've never tried on Techs.

Too bad about your unpleasant experience with ArborWear. I have always bought directly from them, and always dealt with one of the owners. Very good customer support IMO.

ArborWear is known for their pants, not their T-shirts.

I buy T-shirts, vests, etc. elsewhere. Have to say if the belt loop pulled off, I would get on the horn to AW right away. My experience is that they stand behind what they sell.

Anyone tried the new(ish) Tech pants with no side pockets? The first generation had wide legs and these funny rear pockets. I was told that the newer ones have more of a straight leg. ???

Went to the Arborwear web site and had some troubles. Emailed them and very soon they emailed me back saying:

"My apologies! It appears we have something wrong with the website right
now. Our crack IT team is on it....I'll let you know when it's up.

In the meantime, if you have any questions--just shoot me an e-mail or give
us a call (800) 578-8733. Anyone here can help you out and take your order.

Sorry for the inconvenience! Typical Monday, huh"?

I like the TreeBuzz and MBs site. They give us an opportunity to discuss topics, share experiences, and give a 'heads up' for stuff happening in our industry.

But what I like and respect even more is when someone tells us a story about a problem they had, and then shares how they re-solved it.

I bet even money that if the owners of Arbor Wear were aware of the problems shared in this thread, that they would be all over it attempting to make it right.
They always have with me.

Do they have these pants that don't have zip off bottom?

They look nice, i'm really looking hard for high quaility pants that are moisture wicking and will b e comfy in the summer and on rainy days. But here's the kicker, at a reasonable price. These look good anyone else try them?

If you call Arborwear directly and cant get an owner on the phone, ask fro Kerry. Shes my dealer rep and is awesome! I have had a few members of this board who had really minor problems, and they REPLACED the garment NO questions asked! We sell a lot of Arborwear and have only had a handful of returns. HUGE thumbs up on their products!

I got an email today from one of the owners of arborwear, bill weber. He started a tb name just to solve some of my whoas and offered to help out in anyway and even aplologized for the run around I had experienced

I can't describe how far this goes in my book. I had been a fan of arborwear when I was first introduced at the Baltimore tci trade show and was impressed with the original quality. My recent rants have come from the past 6-8 months through retailers selling arborwear, never from them directly (they never seem to have what I'm looking for)

I'm interested to see how this plays out and I will keep you all in the loop. To be honest, I'm impressed he took the time to open an account just to chat with me

Ill extend an offer to ALL TB/TH members. I will sell ANY Arborwear item, so long as I have it in stock or AW has it in stock, at 15% off until the end of June.
