Arbor Wear Tech 11 pants

Dont know what they are really called but I just got a pair of the new Arbor Wear pants. They are the tech pants but without the side pockets. I like them.
They have a slightly larger leg to them which is not too bad.
Overall they are a little less bulky than the original tech pants.
I give them a thumbs up! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The tech pants are the Nylon ones right? How are they for duarability? Do they look/feel like nylon "wind pants"? Are the bottoms of the pant big enough to fit over a pair of workboots? A few guys have the Carhart style Arborwear pants but they dont fit over workboots and sit way up on the boot....kinda looks goofy.

AW Tech pants are #1 in my wardrobe. Very arbo chic!

The legs aren't 'real' large like boot-cut jeans but they seem to blouse out over the tops of my boots.

The material is really tough and holds up well to treework. Keep them away from heat though, they'll melt...I know that too well :(

They're now making their original style pants in nylon too. These have the 'phone pocket' on the right leg and pockets that are open, not the flap pockets, on the rear. No leg pockets like on Tech Pants though.

I hear that I love my Arborwear Tech pants! In fact i pretty much live in my tech pants. As far as I'm concerned their the bread and butter of my wardrobe whether I'm climbing, sitting around, or playin' some disc golf!

The new Tech pants are less bulky and in my mind they work better for real hot weather because the legs dont bind up as much. They dont have the big pockets on the legs so the legs are lighter.

I dont really believe what Tom D. said about the melting factor. I think it is another 'Urban Myth' that Tom has not really thought out completely.

I have burned Blue Jeans and once they get charred the hole just keeps getting bigger and the fabric tears over time.
After melting the Tech. pants in exactly the same fashion I noticed that the melted part actually just got a little stiff but the melted part seemed to be just as strong. Not like the cotton pants like blue jeans that once the hole is there it will continue to grow and grow.
When I burned an actual hole through the Tech. pants with welding splatter, the blue jeans also got a hole burned through doing the same type of welding- The difference is the Tech. pants hole did not increase with time because the edges of the hole sealed. But the blue jeans hole did grow.
So I think the Tech. pants actually hold up better with heat damage.

Sorry Tom but I guess we disagree.

As for durability the Tech. pants hold up WAY better than blue jeans. The only factor I have noticed was the threads seem to shrink a bit over repeated washings. But I have used the Tech. pants with no problems for a longer time than I could wear blue jeans. As for Carhart pants, well I dont do well with heavy cotton that holds water like a sponge for working. Also the gusseted crotch on ArborWear pants really makes a difference in moving my legs.

Greetings,
I'm wonering the same thing a Jesse, from Pacifica. Are they chainsaw protective. My guess is no. Some one from Europe talked about them [chainsaw protective] on the buzz board this pat winter. Never got the price or how to purchase. I really wanted a pair.
I always wear Carhart with the double thigh. I'd change in a heartbeat if I found something better.

I wear the Arbor wear and was a little weird in the begining about that weird cuff being so tight around the boot but then i noticed that they out lasted the loose cuff cut on carharts by a long time. The first thing to were out on my carharts is the boot cuff. Not so with arbor wear.

I stopped by Arborwear this week and picked up a couple pair of tech pants because I new I'd be climbing in the heat today and I wanted to give them a try. Great pants in the heat; as cool as anything I've worn. After 5 hrs. in 90 dgree heat I started making bad descisions so I called it quits, but the techs were great. Much better than the original climbers.

Unlike Carhart...if you tell Bill and Paul something about their lineup, they'll listen. They were generous enough to give all the climbers at the '03 ITCC a pair of prototype tech pants. Still have mine and they're great. Finest pants I've ever had. Whiz

Ive been wearing mine in 95 degree heat for the last week and a half, they are worth every penny, and they are [what???] near invincible it seems. Just utterly impressed

Bulletproof pajamas--- the only way to climb.

I would love to try out some Tech II pants without the pockets but I just can't seem to get any holes in my three pairs of originals so that I can retire them. I thought a week of climbing Shagbark Hickory would help out but no luck.

Can't wait to see the response to my years-old complaint that they don't come in my size (28" X 34") . . . oh, wait, I got it: "we'll try to find some 30's that run slim." No thanks, not for that much $$.

I'm on two full years of wear and they are still going strong. The velcro is popping off of two of the pockets, but that is my only defect minus nicks from the handsaw. I will definitly be getting a new pair or two. Bottom line, without question the best pair of pants I have ever owned. Well worth the price considering I wear them every day.

Somebody should do a cost v. life span analysis of tech pants vs. blue jeans. I bet jeans cost more in the end.

Zac
