Arbor CSI- Oak Wilt?

I always find these diagnostics of bigger trees kind of intimidating and difficult, especially if the symptoms happen this fast. This is at a friends house, and I’ve yet to visit the tree. But curious if other than oak wilt what else could possibly have these types of symptoms and this quickly.

they said it lost leaves in the past two weeks very quickly. The large, poorly pruned limbs were done by their neighbors without their permission and even entered their property without permission. It ended up in police on the scene. That was done 5 years ago and clearly no compartmentalization.

they had no construction done.

neighbors have had some major construction done within the past 7 years that just ended. It sounds like it was in the root zone on their property. The property is 30’ from the trunk so definitely in the trees root zone, but maybe not the critical root zone?

here are the images I was sent. I will try to get by the property as a favor to do in person diagnostics once I have time. They had an arborist come and diagnose as Oak Wilt, but no lab results and he didn’t inquire about construction damage possibilities. I’m not sure how far he went other than a visual assessment.

Where is the tree located? Within this timeframe where o am at there has been the first hatch of ambrosia beetles which could cause this type of damage this quickly. Look for tell tale dust fine grass on the bark near the base and on the root flares.

The tree is located in Nassau county Long Island. We’ve definitely had an emergence of ambrosia beetle this year already. Will definitely look their frass when I’m there in person.
