Anyone tried the Click Geckos?

First they make you believe that their new product is better than anything previously available, then they make you feel that you need it...Most of the time neither is true...
Exactly. I have eased off so much. It was not paying off much buying and testing all the latest. Patience to see if the hype fades.

I did get the buckle less buck velcros a while back. I am thoroughly pleased with them.
I too like my spurs as tight as possible, foot straps and pads included. I like my spurs to feel like they're a part of me, as apposed to, wearing something loosely.
The foot straps are wide and hug a large reality of my boot.
It would take a lot of praise from others for me to consider "upgrading" to buckles.

Has anyone here seen the October tcia mag? Weaver has an ad selling shin guards for climber's...unless their ad is messed up. The picture shows what looks a lot like a gecko pad but shaped a little different and it doesn't show any shank or spike and with very few words it really looks like their pushing some weird shin guards for climber's...

I got to wear mine last week for the first time, I run the cranes 90% of the time now. So don’t get to climb much, They are great though, I have the Elderids which I’ve been climbing on the last 3 years. The Geckos are quick and fast, easily adjustable and stay tight, no movement.

Just a small 3900 lb top 89’ radius
what suspenders are those? I run cranes pretty much all the time right now too and need to get something to take the weight of the saw off my hips

Based mostly on this thread I picked up a pair of velcro straps this weekend. (I was in Bellingham for some mountain biking, so I stopped by Wesspur to see it in person. The show room is closed due to covid but it was still fun to see in person and dig though the free ropes...) I've been using a pair of steel geckos that work provided for me and I have not been able to get the lower straps to cooperate with my arbpros, so hopefully these will be better. I'll update after my next removal.

I have the buckingham quick clip lowers, and have found them to be totally useless. They're made of cheap plastic, and don't work if you crank the strap down hard like I do. Not a fan, would not recommend. If you leave them super loose, they're alright at the little job they have, but where I'm at it's tough to get your gaff back if it's too loose. Slight discomfort from the buckle pressing on the top of my feet all day, in short- total waste of money. The velcro is just as good as the old non buckle ones, which is nice.

I have used velcro lower straps for years now but from time to time have found they will not have enough holding power to pull tree spurs out of sticky conifers. Usually this happens in the afternoon when things are getting gummed up. I had a couple of of times this summer a lower strap came right off - aerial gymnastics to get it done up tight again. It wasn't chips in the fabric - I keep them clean and it wasn''t anything worn out I could see. Maybe depends on conifer or not, your weight with equipment and pole spur or tree spur? I would wonder about a plastic click buckle in these conditions.

Haven't click Geckos got AustriaAlpine buckles? Metal ones?

Sorry maybe shoulda been more clear - I've gone back to my old Buck titaniums but now with leather strap and buckle. After a couple of sessions with (Weaver?) velcro releasing, I returned to more "old school". I have thought about carbon Distels or KK's but then again old technology survives getting banged around in a gear box. (I still lick my lips for carbon ones though . . . )

Well I've done a few removals with the new straps and I'm happy with them. With the old style straps I was usually only getting them about 60 or 70% as tight as I wanted them, but if I really got sweaty and spent a lot of time cranking on the straps I could get them 90% tight enough at the cost of some foot pain and about 10 minutes of struggling (This includes taking a full wrap around the shaft or going under the gaff).

With the velcro I can instantly get at least 90% tension with no effort, but no matter how hard I try there's always a little bit more play than I wish. Especially in very grabby wood I found I could still lift my foot out of the stirrup too easily.

The velcro straps are definitely better than the old style leather ones, but the downside is that since they are so wide, you can't take a full wrap around the shaft or go under the gaff if you want extra pressure on stirrup. Also, the construction quality seems a little subpar for $56, but it hasn't fallen apart yet. I would be really interested to try something like the Edelrid lower straps which have a separate adjustment for behind the heel and on top of the foot. I think that might be the best configuration for getting the spurs glued to your arch.

Had a few expenses come up so have to wait on ordering, but the new Click Geckos from Distel have the lowers anchored to the shaft
