those videos were some good finds guys!

I remember the yellowpages asking me if i wanted to pay for a video, said they would come out to film, or i could submit my own.

There is sure to be plenty of idiotic tree service videos out there now, since unfortunately 75% of tree guys are idiots in my opinion.

a friend of mine forwarded me some bail bond company video's a few weeks ago, unreal. Very getto, you would think it was a joke.

wow, i spent 30 seconds on youtube and found this. i searched for "yellow page tree service".

check out the audio at 22 seconds and look at the picture they have up while they are saying, "accountable to industry standards".

stupid ad

I told you Stephan!

It's like a train wreck watching those Yellow Page Ads.

I can't watch any longer.

FWIW. I sent an e-mail, with a link, to the ISA about these Yellow Page videos. We'll see if there is any announcement on what they (ISA) have learned...

apparently if you don't have time, the yellow pages will put together a video for you with their own pictures, because I've seen the same old goof ball with the goggles and the climber with no hardhat pictures on multiple videos.

just like the stupid picture they will use in the book sometimes, of a man in a bucket, holding a 3to4 foot log with one arm and cutting with the saw with the other hand. I've seen it here in my area, and someone in N.J. posted the same picture there.

You know what though; those self made videos show what the tree service company is about, so if they are doing stupid things in the videos, so be it, that's what you'll get if you hire them. Most common people won't notice things like the no PPE, the cut at the v-crotch and the bucket boom pushing over the top of a tree. They will never notice those things.

I can't believe they allow text comments on most of those videos. The public will then get to read about what they are seeing. I couldn't resist typing on that one... I just couldn't.

well, maybe the tree service owners/workers will learn something from all of this...

[/ QUOTE ] I went to high school with this guy. He's one of my local competitors. He does have a lot to learn but he is trying. He's a good guy and a few years he'll wonder why he put such hackery on the internet. I'm not defending his actions, I'm just giving an inside scoop.

I was so impressed with the new '09 pick up truck that I decided to go to their website. Once again confirmed, no PPE, his notch is questionable (large bypass of his bottom cut) and if you scroll down, you see a crane picking a large log. The lot was attached with only one choker. And the log rolled on to the home. It appears the photo was taken when the log bent the gutter.

If there were any form of training the guy would have had 2 chokers and the tip of the stick would have been slightly away from the home to swing gently away...

What is going on here!? Hopefully consumers will see some of these red flags and search for more qualified people.

Wow these are really great videos! I've been using them to train my friends and family what not to do or hire when they want some tree work done. I like to spread the word on my Facebook page too and critique the videos on what they're doing wrong so people know what to look for.
