Anyone ever seen this one?

OMFG.

Angie's List had a video that was similar, but not as bad as this one. It just showed guys working without PPE, and leaving bad stub cuts while the owner of the company went on and on about the "value" of doing correct tree care.

This one is a classic. "Tree Topping, it's in our name."

This company is in our town. The owner is a nice guy.

What are you all doing to prevent the spread of microbial decay?

Wow! Yellow Pages is doing a real nice job with helping people for an online presence, but they are capturing so much malpractice! It is like a train wreck of sub-standard tree operations. It makes me sick because they are all being portrayed as "professional." Sure, there are some that are doing very well, but the majority isn't impressive at all...

BTW. The top being pushed over by the boom...classic.

Kind of reminds me of an over-looked issue in the last 123deddielee thread. How does the average home owner find a treecare company! Yellow Pages sure doesn't seem to be helping MUCH!

However I have NEVER seen the ISA phone number is the Yellow Pages EITHER!!!! TCIA or ASCA Nope to them too!

Ummm, what are our dollars going for with these organizations? In one town alone this year, there are 6 NEW yard care companies! You KNOW their doing tree work. Some good, but MOSTLY bad!

One last issue, HOW is this thread any different than Oxman's?

You make some good points about the public being able to find a quality tree care company.

But this thread is very different than Oxman's because the tree companies highlighted gave their blessing (and money) to get these videos online.

Would you use the boom on your bucket to push a top over? Would you let someone take a video of it and put it online? Would you pay someone to do that?

True, No and No and I don't know (but probably not)!

I was a bit tired when I wrote my last post, however, I have always felt less than happy for what I was getting for my ISA membership dues!

I don't care if anyone joins the ISA or not. It is what it is, I was under the impression it something else. I unfortunately believed it was a representative of the industry. It ISN'T!

But hey what do I know, I come from Saskatchewan and we ARE always 10-12 months behind the REST of the world.

One more try! In order for the tree care industry to be taken SERIUOSLY, we are going to have to become a TRADE! A trade with enforceable rules and consequences. I am TIRED of staying abreast of all the changes in the industry, only to be stabbed in the back by some bozo that is moonlighting for BEER money, OR worse DRUG money!

All DONE!

How many times does your jaw drop open when you watch this one?

Just before 1:00, watch the bucket boom push over a top.

wow. Poor practices and the sad thing is I guess the owner doesn't know any better. You would think a public video would show the best and safest techniques. At 22 seconds; poor control of limb, but no big deal. 33 seconds, a double trunk tree was notched very close to the v-crotch weak union, the back spar could have easily separated during the cutting and hurt or killed someone and finally at 55 seconds, they use the boom of the bucket truck to push over the tree top! -like you said.

Has it now become law that every tree company that advertises on yellow pages has to own a bobcat?!

yeah, i hate that too, bobcat bobcat bobcat.

everyone has a stupid "bobcat".

and they should be calling it a skidloader too.
