Anybody make one yet?

Here is one I made. Core removed, wire in eye, cover buried, end folded over and stitched for the shackle.

Looks good.

How are you protecting the rope from the wire?

Do you not need the spacer between the cheek plates to prevent the leverage when it is only under body weight? Is that only on the larger pinto pulley?

Look fine BenR.....but how do you inspect the big eye when it's covered in rubber ?
Especially when there's wire in it you should be able to visualy inspect it for damage etc.

Did you on purpose made such a big eye for the pulley to go trough ?? It's huge compared to all the others I've made and seen ;-)

Don't get this comment wrong, just hope to get you thinking so the next one will possibly be better :-)

The wire is covered with epoxy resin, so there shouldn't be any damage done to the rope.

As you have said Wouter, It is not perfect, but it was only a test. I may cut the shrink tubing off as the eye seems almost too stiff. The pulley has not completely pulled through yet and the big eye seems to do no harm. If I made another though, I would probably make the eye a bit smaller.

As far as the spacer question goes, if you look carefully at the picture you will see I don't need one. The plates can't be pulled together because the prussik is in a double configuration. Ie a bight of rope goes through each eye. That pulley is the pinto rig btw. I considered the smaller one, but the sheave efficiency is less compared to the rig.

So I'm wanting to make one and have a few questions. I'm assuming the splices to the pinto need to be locking brummels? Can anyone direct me on how to do that? As far as rope, I was planning on using tenex all the way around. Any problems with that?
Thanks
