Any upcoming updates on the tree motion saddle?

Anyone know if Teufelberger is planning any updates in the near future? I'd hate to buy one and have them release a newer model right away.

This is a serious question, not trolling.

Feel free to PM me if you'd rather.

Not that I'm aware of. I'd be pretty impressed if they could make that thing better.

Did you finally decide on one or are you still on the TM/ergo fence? I replied to that old thread you bumped on AS a few weeks ago. My username was mcfly when I posted there.

After using both for a couple weeks each, both fine saddles. First impressions pretty much played out true.

For me the dealbreaker is the lower attachpoints. Ergo holes very small. Can't use certain biners, including hms style biners that I use with tied knot hitches. Since the hole won't pass a biner lock, can't orient that style biner in the right direction. And even oval biners tend to get cocked in the hole sometimes. D's way too fussy in those holes.

Not saying it is a problem for all, but for me was frustrating. And the ergo I borrowed in an older one, but the ergo pics make the new plates look the same as the older plates.

TM has the huge lower rings (almost too bigger than needed)which I really liked. Don't like how narrow the waist strap is on the TM. They did it to keep the same narrow webbing, but I wish they would let that go...

Ergo would be better with a heavy saw, though.

So a personal preference kind of thing. Both very nice.

I've had the TreeAustria 3.1 for a year now and love it! Similar ergonomic functionality as TM or ERGOV

No way that those saddles you mention are anywhere close to the TreeMotion harness.

and a ballistic nylon bridge instead of a rope bridge(much more durable).

Can you please back that up with data? By just calling it ballistic it doesn't spontanious get to be "much more durable".
I can imagine that when you are not able to make a secure termination knot that you like a pre fixed nylon bridge, but otherwise I don't see any advantages in a fixed length 'wide' belt like strap.

By saying the strap rope bridge is more durable, I am saying is is more abrasion resistant, and it is more durable than ANY rope bridge saddle I have ever climbed on(this is based off of my personal experience). The bridge is sewed with a heavy duty splice ala Grizzly type splice. I'm just saying I have climbed with the TA 3.1 and the TM, and I greatly prefer the 3.1 for various reasons. Ballistic nylon is a basic material in the construction of lots of different slings and other arborist equipment, not some "miracle' thing I just made up.

With all due respect treespotter that is a bit conceited don't you think?

I have used all three saddles and feel the tree motion is the bottom of the heap.

Am I correct, in my world yes, in yours no. It's the old chocolate vs vanilla argument. We are both right and both wrong.

All three are quality products with different ways to accomplish the same thing. Use which ever you choose, but use it safely!

As for the webbing bridge, I also feel It outlasts a rope bridge every time. Again I have used both extensively and the webbing just plain flat out lasts longer. No worries if the core is gone, but cover good.

The tree Austria 3.1 bridge is stitched and laminated. Attached are pics of my bridge with 18 months of full time climbing on it. Still perfectly serviceable.

I have an Ergo as well and other than upgrades, my original was a bit of a prototype, I have yet to replace anything on it due to wear. I used it exclusively for all but two years and still like it for removals and in the winter when a heavier saddle is not so cumbersome. I did immediately replace the velocity bridge with a spectra one. I retired the spectra bridge after a year because I figured my life was worth more than the $ I paid for a new bridge. I am funny that way! Call it. Feel good thing!

A argument of what is better or what is worse is a bit futile. I just wanted to point out the experiences I have had so others can make their own decisions with a bit more info.

With respect,

Tony

I heard they are going to. From what I understand the bridge is going to be like a steel core lanyard. Also fluorescent pink in color. Custom phone pouch. As well as a light saber holster. I for one am excited.

In all seriousness I doubt it but if they did I think a rated body harness for bucket truck work or footlock events in competition would be awesome.
