Any new Climbers?

Wow, This site has sure been an interesting snapshot into arborists world? How much rec climbing do all you experienced guys like to do? And would all of the Ontario climbers like to get together for some rec climbing. I'm looking to get some insight into tree climbing. And admittedly I'm cheap so, a get together would be a great way for us newbies to see what the climbing is all about.

Thanks

Dave

Where would you want to do something like that. I know up my way all the BIG trees are Ash and Cottonwood. I worked down your way for 4 years for Maple Hill and I know Halton and Peel regions have more, larger, Oaks of a variety of species. There is that monster Bur Oak in the Humber Arboretum. We had 25-30 people up it last March. Any ideas?

Sounds like fun! I would love to come but I will be in Saskatchewan for the next couple of weeks pruning a couple hundred elms.

Hey Mark,

Queen size bed, breakfast, (pancakes or french toast and home made Maple syrup) night caps of rum toties. View of vineyard and Nothshore Lake Erie. Warning 3 kids and dog. We've got a wack of maples and oaks to play with.

Hey Princess,

Been climbing for about 4+ years now. Not long, but majorly love it. I've been in the industry for about 10 years. I love this profession! Wouldn't change a thing. Wish I had a chance to meet you in Pittsburgh.

Hey TreeGeek- hang the the warrior pose chiqua! :) Stay strong.

Tree Princess,
I am new to tree climbing also and am trying to outfit myself with gear. I have not met any local women climbers in my area yet. I was wondering about the women who climb and where you find your gear that will fit a woman's body? Any ideas or advice from the girls out there?
Thanks

Yeah, I'd like to hear about what women like to use also. My wife likes to climb some but my saddle really hurts her legs and just doesn't fit quite right /forum/images/graemlins/santa.gif

Thanks Kevin,
New Tribe is one of the companies I had on the top of my list to call. They look like they make a few nice products. I do not know anyone who is using one of their saddles and if they are as comfortable as they look. Any thoughts?

I use a Ness (New Tribe) saddle and find it very comfortable. I think women might have good success with this saddle because you can order the waist belt portion and the leg loop portion of the saddle in different sizes if you deal directly with New Tribe. That way one can really custom-size the saddle. In my experience, they are very helpful there, and will try to meet your needs. I know one woman who climbs in a Ness saddle and she raves about it.
