Any new climbers 2

I'm a new climber and I'm very interested in gaining as much from your collective experience as possible. There is so much for me to learn. Did I read correctly that Princess is attending a climbing school? I wish I had time and access to that, I've taken a couple of Arbormaster Training classes which are great, but they are only a few days each. I feel like I need some real time on the job to start to get a grasp on the fundamentals. Most of the guys I talk to around here don't seem like they do things the "right" way, more "old school" I guess. Looking forward to learning and doing safely. /forum/images/graemlins/aaa.gif

nothing wrong with learning old school techniques leif, its a good grounding.
fact is the advanced techniques we're using now in 20 years time will be looked on as old school themselves

Steve, I think old school may have been a bad choice of words on my part. What I was talking about were things like no ppe (ear plugs, helmet, glasses) spike climbing for pruning and dangerous (according to Arbormaster instructors) rigging practices. I realize that I must first learn to walk before I can climb. Old, solid techniques are definately interesting to me.
