ANSI 133 an urban legend

lol. What we need is MORE legislation. Forget about enforcement, I mean there are more tree cutters in Los Angeles than there are OSHA inspectors in America.

I say make more rules (bark) and completely forget about inspectors (bite). That will get the job done.

Maybe we could reallocate the budgets from all these pointless meetings into paying some honest folks to go out and issue some fines. That wont work though, then they could use that money to hire more inspectors, which might make a difference.

For sure people would rather go on little vacations to talk about un-enforceable rules with catered meals than actually have a job that involves paperwork and citations.

excuse my sarcasm
My reason for going to theses meetings 5 years ago was to understand the process and become more informed. That turned in to me realizing I could give positive input and affect the safety of many of my peers. You see I don't see Ansi Z as a law manual but a guide for safe practices in, and specific to, our industry. A standard I can adopt as company policy verbatim.

And up until this past October All expenses for said trips over the last 5 years where paid for by me except for the lunch which is provided. That's how important I felt it was after I attended my first meeting.

Open participation, industry-wide, guidance instead of legalisms--the Z is all those things the A300 tree care standard is not. Good on you and all those who pitch in!
