Another Langford Fir Removal

Same property as the last bunch of photos I posted from Langford. Another long day, didn’t leave the site until 8....although to be fair, for last 30 mins we were just sat around with the home-owners.

This one had some of its top blow out in the past, so a little shorter at about 120-125.

All conventional rigging this one, no zipline. Plenty of room to chunk down the logs later.

Windy at times but dry and bright.

A lot of pics to embed, hope they work this time. Thanks

Pretty dang impressive to get a fat boy like that down in one day Reg!

I hate those funky bends in the trunk like that.

If you ain't gettin 5 bills a day for that work, somethin ain't right.

Stay safe mate!

Extremely impressive for a 1 day job!

Very impressive felling job, too.

Nice job good days work right there that is for damn sure.
I am impressed, seems your crew does not fuk around.
The climber certainly earned his bacon on this one. Did you have more than one climber work the tree ? Ossrt of hard to tell.

Great pictures tho, really gives a sense of the size and scope of the job.

Thanks guys.

Mark, no she didn't mate.

Grais, just one climber in the tree, about 9 hrs give or take, but Scott was pitching in too in the bucket on the lower 50ft, cut and chuck etc.... which actually helped alot as I could get on with the rigging without getting in each others way.

Most of the pictures were taken from the bucket actually....and what a difference blue sky makes to an image!

The last photo was actually sat by the other tree we did a week or so before, about 7:30pm by that stage. Long days like that I find really hard to sleep thereafter. Cant switch off for love nor money.

Thanks again.

Excellent work as usual my friend.

BTW, I have the same problem with sleeping after jobs like that as well.

A fine job, again, Reg. Big thing, it was.

What was your strategy on that as far as setting your climbing system and rigging system?

[/ QUOTE ]

Thanks,

I set the first as high a possible and then spur up while adjusting the slack as I go. Once at the TiP I kept climbing until I reached the point just below where I knew I'd be topping the tree right at the end. Set the rigging line right about there too. I dont always go right to the top just to come all the way down again but on this tree it made sense.
