another idea , question for the buzz !!!!

i would like to see if we are able to maybe have a section all about organic tree care. i am trying to learn all organic methods. i think it is good to know the other commercial methods to, but i would rather apply organic methods over the commercial methods, like organic fertilization, pest control, disease control, ect.. what do you guys think? what do you all use thats organic on you trees???

You may be right Mark. I just don't hear to much talk about it. I'm trying to take my business completely organic as much as possible. I would like to see what guys on the buzz are implementing. Thank you and all who work hard to keep the buzz going.

I'm not sure that these need a separate category though? Seems that they could be discussed in the current groups, no?
Yeah I think having its own thread would work well enough and still be searchable. Maybe categorize each thread like, "What's a Good Organic Soil Conditioner?", or "Anybody Know of a Good Organic Fertilizer for Trees?" or "How Can I Kill Aphids Organically, without Chemicals? "

Haha, organic tree care really takes the arborist out of his job. Trees are very well off without us. Organic tree care is what you see in the woods. Sorry just venting, I hate chemicals.

Ya, I use chemicals, when I need to but with a great deal of disdain.

I think the organic method of getting rid of aphids is soap and water.

A good organic soil conditioner would be, leaves.

And a good organic fertilizer for trees is again, leaves.

And if the trees had their leaves rotting under them your probably wouldn't see many aphids.

Bob, you're not supposed to answer it all within one post. It's a discussion. But nevermind, cause that pretty much sums it up, twig. :)

Actually, there are more variables to discuss though...like don't mix the leaves into the soil. They need to decompose on top. And maybe add a little vegetable oil to your soap and water to help it stick.

Vegetable oil? I thought the soap just helped get them off the leaf. Sometimes when I see insects on a bush or small tree and the customer has good water pressure I just power wash them off. I've seen it work. Plants have their own immune systems. Sometimes just a little help can allow them to revive itself so the pest no longer wins the battle to decline. Remember most off these pest are only feeding for short periods of time. No need to get postal about it.

No, actually soap will kill insects (and only certain insects) by sucking the water out of them. It dries their cells out.
