Angie's List contract?

I decided to cancel my " contract " with Angie's List now Angi. Then they withdraw $1,100 out of my credit card just because.
-The answer is a breach of contract.
-What contract? My contract was supposed to last two years only and four years already passed.
-Their answer i was auto-renewal.
- I never signed any renewal in the last couple of years.
-Their answer, if you don't sign or contact us that's mean you're agreed with renewal and do whatever you want but we aren't going to refund any money.
-Well I signed with Angie's List, not with Angi you're a different company.
Their answer, We reserve the right to rebrand our company.
Now, auto-renewal is legal in some states as long it meets state requirements. I file a dispute with my credit card company, they ask Angi for documents to support their allegations and they never provide any.
My credit card company refund me the $1,100.
Just let you know in case you find yourself in the same situation.

Wow. Thank you for letting us know about all that, I’m sorry to hear Home Advisor is causing you so much trouble! Glad your credit card company took care of you though.

I would say The customer service went downhill after Home Advisor became Angi...

I canceled... Guess I better watch to make sure my car doesn't get dinged again.

I didn't think it was a bad service overall... We just can't take on any more work. Pausing leads every 30 days during the busy season just got really annoying.

Yes, customer service is bad. I canceled because they started to give me, Iow value leads starting this year. People looking to have stump removal for $20, pruning a 30' tall tree for $80, besides the competitors they sent me with, I wasn't able to beat their prices.
I understand a couple of hundred difference is fine but $600-$1000 can't beat it.

They were offering me that I could pay a flat fee of $300 per month for the advertising contract, and process all my credit cards for free! That would have been a huge savings for me with my current credit card processing rates, but something didn't feel right. I didn't want Angie to have all of my clients credit card info. It probably was legit, I don't know, but I didn't bite.

That was probably smart. Clients would have had to pay through Angi for the free processing. I suspect many clients who did not find you through Angi would find that objectionable, so the savings would probably not be as big as advertised.

Did $300 per month include unlimited leads?

having said that, I'd rather a reputable 3rd party deal with credit cards rather than I. I use Square and Jobber to process cards. I ask clients to just go there (or I swipe with the Square reader). When somebody wants to pay over the phone, I offer to email them an invoice. I figure they each spend several times our gross annual income on just credit card security. Not that it is perfect...but it is better than what I could do! Angi is probably a "safe" place for your client's cards....but I'm guessing when they download the app to pay you, they'll start getting push notifications from Angi and the clients will curse you in the back of their mind every time the see one of those ... they'll uninstall the app, and not call you back because they don't want to have to deal with that again. Not every one - but a service like that should never cost you a client. Maybe it wouldn't happen that way...but I just imagine it playing out like that.

Did $300 per month include unlimited leads?
It was their base plan, and I think it included only 5 or 6 leads per month. I made it very clear to the salesman I was not looking for more business , we already have more work coming in than we can get to. The only reason I was considering it was for the credit card processing savings, but I'm with you on what you said about the client experience.
