Maybe you could post a pic. It sounds interesting.I welded a clevis to the open end to enable pretensioning with a rope come-a-long and a macro grab.
We mostly now just use this porty on the mini or front receiver on the truck.
That device was manufactured by Charlotte Rigging Supply (CRS). No longer in production. That design was modified to the Porty 1, which was modified to the Porty 2, which was modified to the Porty 3.
I have the evolution of models in my basement, except for the 1 pictured. I have the 1st Porty 1 and 1st Porty 2. Manufactured at Aerial Equipment in Wheeling, IL.
Of the PortaWrap? It's for keeping the initial bight of rope (which is fed down through the upper eye) from slipping off the end of the device. Can anyone better explain the shorter leg? Unless it's that insanely simple, i believe I'm misunderstanding the rope loading or orientation?
Thanks!
will i think he's talking about the PW1. Jmaher picture the shorter leg being the same as what Treelogic is describing, for the intial wrap, then the next wraps are taken on the longer side. it is about as simple as lowing devices get.

I would. First year in business, trying to collect as I go, just ran into a scenario where we could have used a second portiwrap. And that first gen is the BEST thing to teach people with as it's just so simpleDoes anyone have any interest in the lowering device pictured in the original post? It has sat shelved since shortly after this post was made and I know a few people had expressed interest in finding one.
