Anchor Bridge Ropeworks is calling for the immediate cessation of use of the Anchor Bridge Replacement Rope Bridge (part # ABR 7110)(Please see attached notice)

I have become aware of a single product that has failed during normal use. This incident did not result in any injuries. I am asking that all users of this product render the product inoperable by carefully cutting one or both of the eyes.

The official call for cessation of use is attached to this post with more information.

We are in the process of testing this failed unit to determine the cause of the failure and more information will be made available as it becomes available.

I appreciate any assistance that anyone can provide to help ensure the full compliance of this notice.

Sincerely,

Richard Hattier
Anchor Bridge Ropeworks, Inc.

(moderators, if you could make this post "sticky" it would be greatly appreciated.) Thank you.

Glad to hear nobody was hurt and hope the recall will keep it that way. I'll start spreading the word to everyone I can. Sorry to hear about this, it has to be a big headache for you Rich.

what is the core that has been used in that splice? I do recall several threads about broken rope bridges using a hollow braid 12 strand cordage.

Re: Anchor Bridge announces Rope Bridge Recall !!

Hi Rich,
Thanks for the notice, I know one climber who has that bridge and isn't on the buzz. Ill call him shortly. Hope you are well and sorry to hear about the headache you are facing. Just got some spliced material of yours from treestuff, terrific workmanship as usual.
It looks like I'll be going to louisville next spring. Really want to catch up. Take care.

Re: Anchor Bridge announces Rope Bridge Recall !!

Hopefully Weaver is not going to replace with the old bridges consisting of 100% technora cordage. Inappropriate material for this application.

Rich has developed a much more bomb proof replacement bridge that seems far more fitting for the safety of the user.

Everyone, please utilize this thread for information rather than the similar, yet confusing thread by Tobe Sherrill. Anchor Bridge is the company that wisely and swiftly issued this recall in the interest of climber safety.

Hats off to Anchor Bridge!

Re: Anchor Bridge announces Rope Bridge Recall !!

Am with you Sawyer, glad to hear Rich's voice in the matter. I'll submit.

Please, more about the new choice of materials. People need renewed confidence in this bridge. Many are also making reasonable inquiries about the old ones. Take it away guys...

Re: Anchor Bridge announces Rope Bridge Recall !!

Nick the splicer has been saying for a while that polyester is the best choice for a bridge.

Re: Anchor Bridge announces Rope Bridge Recall !!

Here's a video showing how to replace the rope bridge on a Weaver Cougar.

More importantly: Please keep up the awareness campaign of this recall. I know everyone is doing their part in getting the word out which is awesome. There has been a third potential failure reported, again with no injury.

Weaver Leather expects to have replacement bridges available within the next two to four weeks.
