When are they taking out the rest of the trees? Doesn't look like they got very far into the removal in one day, considering the size of the crane they have sitting there.

Ehj Nick,

This is NO removal. This is done 2 or 3 years ago and meant to be called "pruning".

The crane (bucket truck)is just parked on that square for overnight. It has nothing to do with those trees. Those trees are on a graveyard and i did pass them in better times. It was nice in summer to sit quietly and have youre thoughts straighten out. At one time they made a building site for some residential homes behind the church. About 9 beeches had to be removed for light in the new build houses. (trees were on north side of the bulding area /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif)

After the removal of those 9 (some had trunkrot but not all) suddenly the beeches in the pics were topped. Its a shame that they did it like this or at all. There was or is no reason why such old trees should have been molested like this. The dead wood that was present could have been removed in a single day job for two climbers.

The trunk base dying is happening since the pruning. I believe its sunburn and not from rootdamage(dying because loss of limbs) Also those injectionplugs in the base are placed after the prunning, im not knowing the purpose or intention of those.
