An expression of admiration and appreciation...

Hello All,

I hope this final weekend of August finds you well.

I just thought I'd take a moment to express my admiration for the skills you all possess, and my appreciation for your willingness to share your ideas and opinions.

I've always admired people working in trees from afar. I thought it was cool how they could move about in the canopy. What I did not realize was there is a community of people that collaborate/share their ideas. I've learned a great deal, and continue to forage for new ideas, lessons, cautions, etc.

I'm impressed...and when people ask what I'm up to these days, I tell them about my recreational tree climbing. The next subject I talk about is all of you - the community of climbers. Cool stuff. You just might be too close to it to realize this.

With gratitude,

Great message to read on. Sunday morning. Love the positivity and the gratitude you show. Keep that up and thanks for being part of our community! Make sure to get out to a local tree-event next chance you get.

Mark...

I've been scouring the world wide web. for something on the west coast...or even the western states. They seem to be getting cancelled. I was heading to Reno, NV, but it's gone. I'm hoping that there's something in the Pacific Northwest in the near future...and where the heck is California? I mean, we have plenty of trees and arborists. I'm going to totally "geek out" on watching experts do their thing. I'm reminded of my brother who is a great tennis player. When he goes to tournaments, he doesn't care about the competition...he actually goes and watches the pros practice. Pretty cool.

By the way...everyone who knows me is aware of Tom Taylor, and about my music (singing) instructor. This is the inspiration for simply saying what you think...especially if it's good.

Tom Taylor Story
When I was a boy, my father went to the memorial of Tom Taylor.
When he came home, I asked about the event.
He said it was the biggest bunch of bullshit he ever saw.
I asked why.
He said everyone stood around and said what a great guy Tom was, but they never told him when he was alive.
He said, “David, when you have something good to say, say it.”
That’s a Tom Taylor moment.

Music Teacher
I go to this teacher to learn how to sing. I'm pretty embarrassed, as I don't know how...and I'm feeling pretty exposed. The instructor asks me, "How old are you?" At the time I said I was 52. He says, "Well, you don't have the time to be embarrassed, now open your mouth and sing."

Now I apply these two pieces of my advice to how I communicate and live. Say the good stuff, and get on with living, because you don't have the time to do otherwise.

Cheers.
