An exceptional visit

This weekend I had the pleasure to work with Tom Dunlap in entertaining a group of Danish arborists on a redwood clilmb in Humboldt county.

At the last minute things didn't work out quite as planned, instead things worked out better.

I will not get into all the details, but I want to thank the owners of the "Redwoods River Resort" (they are on the web) they made it a memorable experience for all of us.

Thank you to Tom for putting it together, Jack a Billy @ the Redwoods resort, and Bruce and Angela @ the Tree House for the oppertunity to enter the lands and climb the trees.

Things just don't get any better.

Great trees, camping and everything.

I got to say the Dain's, they perfer "Vikings," were a most wonerful group of people to meet and climb with.

I took some helmet cam video of one climb that I'll squeeze into a 10 second mpg. Quicktime movie, and post a following later.

Jerry did a good job of summarizing the weekend. It was a priveledge to be part of the climb. Seeing all of the smiles and excitement was a wonderful reward. There was good family time too at the campfires, climbing, swimming and jumping off the rocks.

Jerry had me climb the Tree House tree to put up the "Open" sign. I'm grateful to be able to have been such a small part of such a big job. The Tree House tree looks beautiful.

A picture of Jom with Big Shot. Notice that the sack is pulled all of the way to the bottom and on the case. It took quite a while to get a good set in the tree. I wish that I could understand Danish better, but I think I heard a few explicatives when the shot would fall short :)

Re: Picture of climb

Big trees in background. Notice that half of the top is gone. The tree is about 300' tall. After spending the day climbing a dip in the Eel River felt wonderful!

Re: Picture of climb

Soren and Lars Big Tree. Soren would climb most of the time without a t-shirt, must have something to do with being a Viking.
