Amsteel Loop Instead of MaxiPlate

Just picked up a CMI TrolleyHD for use in ziplining stuff out of the tree. According to CMI you can mate a MaxiPlate rigging plate to it and then hang all your stuff from that.

Just wondering if I can accomplish the same thing by hanging a couple of endless loop slings from each 3/4" pin on the underside of the Trolley HD. I know it would leave me only 2 load attachment points but that is more than enough for our needs.

I was thinking that I could tie an endless loop out of Amsteel 3/8" or 5.8 tenex.

Any thoughts pro or con on this approach or the materials I'm looking at?

The rigging plate below will help with flipping issues around the speed line itself on the return to climber..

I was thinking the same thing too, Tony.

Usually when we zip-line we'll hang a PMP under the trolley, pull the trolly to the high point, run the load line through the pmp to the load, pre-tension the load line and lift the load to the trolley.

We then use the load line to ease the trolley down the zip line.

All this to say, that with the PMP hanging under the trolley we don't need the plate to keep it from flipping.

(See Attachment)

Since there are only two things we need attached to the trolley, the load PMP and a tag line, I wondering if the expense of the plate is worthwhile.

This is why I was thinking maybe an AMSTEEL sling for hanging the PMP along with the Taglines.

Sometimes I'll attach a larger screw pin shackle to the bottom just for ballast. Works great.

I am with you just an observation.

Got one around here collecting dust. Let you have it cheap!
