Aluminum vs Steel trailers

Hey,

I'm looking at purchasing a 6x10 or 6x12 trailer. Steel or aluminum? I have a small gutless tacoma v8 to pull it with. I'm leaning towards the aluminum but wondering if the 300lbs apprx weight savings is worth the extra 700-1000 I'll have to fork out to get it?

Thanks

Doubt that it is worth the money.

What is your towing max. capacity?

What do you expect to carry?

Does the truck need a tune-up of any type to get it up to less than gutless.

The truck could use a tune-up. The trailer will be used for carring brush etc. Just wondering if its that big or an advantage. I've seen alot of steel trailers all rusted to hell as well.

Definitely aluminum. I have a 7 x 14 aluminum dump trailer that is 16 yrs old. Still looks new. Aluminum chip body also. Same holds true for it. Remember that at least half the time you will be empty so you will be saving fuel ,tranny, tires. No rust is a huge plus. A steel bed would never last that long. So as far as a little more up front cost I say aluminum is more than worth it. Oh yeah, my brother pulls an aluminum 6 x 12 with 5ft sides dump trailer with his Tacoma crew cab.
