Alternative to rope wrench?

Looks like you might be able to invert the captive eye biner, clip a small ring to it, and tie your cord to the ring, avoiding the red 'biner???
How does the captive eye biner work for ascent. Seems like it would have the same problems as the F8 for ascent, no?

That could be an option, I just starting working with this...
For ascent you can take the rope out of the main frame and use the biner' to attach to an ascender of choice or just ascend with the hitch, if the rope is just through the eye and not the frame it ascends just fine so far.
I am still getting a little hitch binding with this but I have only tried it on velocity, maybe a larger rope would solve it....more to test and report.....
