Almost topped myself.

This one is my favourite though, groundie comes in at mach four, 10 feet off the ground.. luckily only injury sustained by all parties was a broken arm. Could have been K.I.A. for both involved.

Great examples of what can go wrong for sure. Although it's a little bit of a mystery as to what they're doing in that video. Giant stubs left all the way up? Taking a massive section of trunk down into the remaining canopy? No helmet on the climber? No apparent block installed, or friction management device?

At least the homeowner saved a bit of coin by taking the lowest bidder! /eyeroll

Glad you're ok. I've managed to avoid that scenario by talking through my checklist and touching each line. A few seconds worth a lifetime.

i kinda miss those backyards! PICT0026.webp

True, it does present some exciting challenges.. I've rigged off of support cables for communication lines before, also built floating anchor points between two buildings to rap into a hazard tree that was unclimbable and inaccessible for the bucket truck. I guess it's a "Grass is greener" scenario. I was up in the country last week doing some tree removals near a cottage.. no wires in sight, just dropped all of the trees and bombed the only one near the cottage in 4 chunks with a vertical speedline. It was a nice breath of fresh air.
