Aerial Drones Anyone?

I saw a guy using one. Right when I saw I knew it would be perfect for tree inspections. I tried flying them before and it's a challenge. But the good ones have Sons stabilization system in it that makes it a piece of cake to fly

Here's the one I saw a dude flying at the beach

There are so many out and the tech is increasing at amazing pace. Iirc the editor and or owner of wired magazine is investing rather heavily in them as he is aware of what is about to happen, or already happening. They are the future of areal inspection. I imagine some day the drone will carry out the 3d scan of the tree and a computer will operate the crane with feller grapple figuring out the weights and most effecient cuts. A human tech drives and sets the crane and drone up. Robotic artificial intelligence carries out the tree removal thus engineering out the possibility of a human being injured in the process, let alone the machines carry out the operation much more efficient. The drones are another part of the rise of the machines.

How about a heli style drone that has a feller grapple on it?!

Google search reviews on them and look at ebay for them.
I looked into buying one a few months ago was blown away at the cost differences and types available. Iirc around $600-$800 with out camera was applicable for tree inspections. For the moment, I've got better things to spend that much on these days that will directly make my operation grow.

You know what I question about technology and society is how we make things that put people out of work ,but there's more people born everyday that are gonna need a job . On the other hand making the technologies is the new jobs I guess , I'm just a young simple man who is like a dinosaur suppose . I can see the usefulness of lots of new stuff that comes out , just worried about the future possibly because of the changes I've witnessed in the short thirty trips I've been around the sun. All in all drones would be cool for tree exams and other things that are good, but with that comes the bad and the ugly as well ..for some reason I see myself shooting drones out of the sky with my shotgun before my next thirty years comes and goes . Dont ask me why ,just the vision I get! :sorprendido3:

Didn't they just pass a law somewhere that you could shoot them over your property?

I had a guy come out and film me and my crew doing a feww nice crane removals he sent me a short clip im still waiting for more videos and pics, its something im definitely going to buy not only for myself but for great promo vids

no doubt!
What did he charge for that?
Any idea of the cost of the drone?

Most good outside videos have drone footage to compete with what's out there. Probably a whole new field in schools that have filming classes.

A surreal video by Ace Tree. Those guys seem to be first with much of their camera work ideas. Im surprised nobodies mentioned or posted this in the video forum already:

I've got an original DJI Phantom with a gopro hero 3. I like it, but it was lacking in a few things that they've since fixed with the new models. Main thing it was lacking was a video downlink so you can see what the camera does. Second thing I found lacking was that there was no gimbal on the original, just a mounting point without even passive stabilization. Not impossible to work with by any means, just much easier when you can have the quad hover and move the camera versus having to move the quad to rotate the camera view. Of course, those two points kind of go hand in hand, what's the point of having a gimbal without being able to see where to point it?

Pretty much since I picked it up I've wanted to get a bigger and better multirotor, fix some of the things I found lacking. The Phantom v 1.3 and then the V2 have fixed most of the problems I had with the original, save the payload/camera. The Phantom just didn't have the lift for anything other than a gopro or similar small camera. DJI has recently released their new prosumer unit, the Inspire 1. Just a hair under $3k, so it's not cheap, but it has pretty much everything I can think of wanting on a camera copter without dragging the price tag above $5k. The Inspire, IMHO, is a good midpoint between the Phantom and something capable of hoisting a "serious" camera like a Canon 5d or a RED Epic. There's also the fact that the camera system from the inspire can be controlled by one person, with the option of splitting control. Most of the larger camera copters require two controllers, one for the copter, one for the camera system. When you're trying to deal with obstructions and making dynamic shots having the second person controlling the camera is very useful, but the option of being a solo flight is a big plus to me. Another interesting thing with the Inspire is that it has a second flight control camera that is on the belly pointing downward that interfaces with the flight controller for increased stability.

I'm probably going to purchase the Inspire, if I can't convince myself I need a bigger unit AND a good DSLR.

djm, not 100% positive, but that lift looks like a Bronto Skylift. Possibly an XR series. Awesome lifts, I was able to check out one of their HLA models at a fire show. 104 meter platform height with integrated waterway and able to hold 500 kg on the oversize platform.

I don't have too many photos from the DJI on this computer, but here's one of my backyard and another photo from playing at my mothers.

He hasn't charged me anything yet he still wants to come out for more filming I do know that he used one of the Phantom models and said it was around $1300 range
