Do you.... have a modern climbing saddle with side-ds? Your system sounds questionable to be honest.

Yes, you can make a flip-line with a piece of rope, two biners, and a friction cord, but it would preform A LOT better with a micro-pully in the mix, which can be had for as little as $20.

(photo of a rope lanyard. tie a knot instead of that splice, add a micro-pully and if you already have the two biners and cord, you will have a proper flip-line)

I once paid extra for a climbing hitch with knots tied in the ends... when I could have bought a much longer hank of chord and made multiple hitches of different lengths....good lesson, early in my journey.
