with those kind of extreme temps, the trees need all the shade on the trunk and root zones they can get... LEAVE those lower limbs and sprouts on the trunk in tact as much as possible, especially on the southern/western sides...

Gotta feel for the trees (as much as the tree worker), they can't take a break and go sit in the a/c for lunch..
