$550 a day climbers

Congratulations, Jason! I hope it all works out, and ends up being a great work experience.

So far I'm really enjoying it. Learning a lot of new things, I was kind of stuck in a rut with my existing skills, also had some bad habits I'm working on correcting.
Plus it's a lot better than what else we had going this winter....
I hope it lasts for a bit!

I wouldn't bank on anyone from T2 Storm getting back to anyone about more work on this fire cleanup at this point. I keep hearing different rumors from the top about how long this job will be going on for. I think the easier trees are rapidly disappearing and only the nasty trees are being left for those with the skills to make stuff happen.

It is dirty work with tons of paperwork (a form for every tree you cut or climb or every saw you use), lots of rules to follow, special cuts for falling trees, one handing is an offense they can fire you for, you must wear a face shield anytime using a saw, Pfanner saw pants aren't allowed on the ground because they aren't UL approved (even though the CE standard is higher), and the job site is a blackened forest on steep muddy terrain. I love it.

I forgot the best rule! Every tree cut over 10 feet no matter whether it could hit anything has to have a rope in it. Mechanical advantage is required for the larger trees so you can snap the trigger.

The special cut is for every tree over 12" in diameter. It is a bore cut with a 70-90 degree face and a snap cut trigger that is released by pulling the tag line.

Ryan is exaggerating a little. We worked together Sunday and it wasn't all blackened and steep....we did make all the special cuts though.
As far as if any positions are still available I've heard different things on that. The day after our orientation, I heard there were going to be no more orientations, meaning nobody new. Then the beginning of the next week I ran into a buddy of mine from high school, who was scheduled for orientation that day, and has been working since.
I've also had various replies given when asking how long the project is going to last.
