50th Anniversary of Everest summitting

Today is the 50th Anniversary of Norgay and Hillary summitting Everest.

They made the summit at about 11:30 am.

The picture is of a pub/hotel in Wales near Mt. Snowdon. The team practiced for the climb in the area. They all signed the ceiling in the pub. The pub has some gear from the climb in a show case. They have part of the rope that Hillary and Norgay used to rope themselves together. It looks like about 7/16" three strand.

I read (and already knew after seeing his story on the news) that Gary Guller is a motivated speaker from from Austin. I am motivated and I have never even met him, but would very much like to!
