45 degree leaner

Here's a 23" boxelder removal that we finished today. This is where we left off on the first day.

Let's call this pic "Point A"

This is "Point C"

I'd like to entertain some ideas about how others might have removed this tree (Point B).

I'll post pics of how we did it over the weekend.

There was no crane access.

There was no bucket truck access, because the last tree crew (not us) that had a bucket truck in the driveway put an outrigger through the basement wall.

This is the access through a neighbor's backyard, bobcat MT-52 for size reference.

Note the new siding and concrete work on the blue house, that's where the last company put the outrigger through the wall.

Here you can see the stem is leaning directly over the little unmovable shed and the rock wall.

So what do you think? How would you have done it?

Looks too close to the shed for butt-hitching. I guess I'd chunk it out using horizontal cuts and shove the pieces into the drop zone. Or... rent a helicopter!

If there are no adjacent trees to rig from, cut small pieces and toss them into the drop zone. Protect the wall with tires and top of the shed with 3/4" plywood.

Id eat my wheaties...then Id cut small peices by making the notches towards myself, VERY carfully back cut untill I know it will bust loose. Mut my saw aside...pray...then muscle them upright untill it breaks loose(now standing upright and in my hands and resting on the spar)...then manhandle that sucker where I want it...looks like mabey one or two small peices could be butt hitched 1st...hmmmm its sooooo easy to say what I would do from the relative saftey of my desk :)

Can't you cut and have a tag line flexing them over on hinge, then after hanging have tag line drift them out from over shed?

Then, fell it against lean after shortening?

This little unit is rated for 6000 pounds, 2000 at full extension. We had them bring the jib so they had a higher reach (less cutting and tossing big wood). With 4-wheel steering he could get around the corner of the house no problem.

We hooked two opposing-gate steel biners right to the chain and used the big green sling to lift 3-4 foot pieces. The operator just lowered the pieces to the ground once they broke free.
