What is your thoughts on this. My opinion is it has been straight gassed. he ran it so hot it melted the plug rubber.

Could be straight gassed or lean seizure. You'll have to pull the cylinder and piston to tell. If it was straight gassed, when you pull the piston you will see damage to the wrist pin area on the bottom side of the piston. If it was just run too lean or had an air leak, there typically won't be damage to the wrist pin area. Best of luck with it.
 
Looks to me, without disassembling it, that it’s not a repairable engine. Or at least not worth the cost of repairing it, piston and cylinder replacement at a minimum; if it was straight gas or too lean, it may have damaged the bearings and crank shaft as well, at which point you’re pretty much replacing the whole engine. Probably better off to keep/sell it for parts and buy a new saw.
