20th anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq

After the nearly 20 year long US occupation of Iraq what do we have to show for it? No WMD‘s. Zero connection to 9/11 or Al-Qaeda. No budding democracy in the Middle East.

In it’s place we left behind an apocalyptic wasteland unfit for life. Well over a million dead Iraqi’s, and through our use of illegal materials such as depleted uranium and white phosphorus places like Fallujah have higher cancer rates than Hiroshima or Nagasaki, and 1 in 4/5 children are born with gross malformations.

Not in my name.

Yep and the countless other governments we've directly or proxy toppled and left in shambles with our foreign policy. I was in the first one and had no idea how pointless it was then. Not in my name ha so much momentum then just like that........stopped. Too much effort. Civil rights protestors knew how to protest!!!

I was in Portland at the time, two major highways were flooded with protesters shutting them down for hours.

Appreciate you bro.

I have a fabulous foreign policy history podcast if interested by Steven Kinzer. It’s really fabulous and quite informative. It was an entry level eye opener for me. I’ve studied a lot of things in depth the last few years.

I was 100% against this madness and found the pictures of our dead soldiers devastating. I lost the interest in work.

I cannot think of a single big expenditure on the Federal level I agree with! It seems to be all wasted money whether war, covid and sickcare or banks!

Here is an unhinged rant from Friedman of the NY Times:

He wrote a great book called "Overthrow" that has a subtitle too long to bother writing out here that was also a big eye opener to me.

This from an obsessed friend today:

When it comes to crimes in US history, this is one of the top 5.

When it comes to the 21st century, this is the biggest US crime of all, and there have been plenty in the last 22 years.

Brown University estimates that we killed between 250,000 to 306,000 innocent civilians in Iraq.

The US became the certified biggest liar of the century when it lied to the UN and the world that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Not a single one was found in spite of the biggest Easter egg hunt in human history. Every General and Colonel were looking for an extra star on their epaulettes and a big promotion if they could find a single canister of Raid, but they found nothing, nothing at all.

A lot of people justified the invasion by saying the Saddam Hussein was a "bad man who poisoned his own people." Yeah, but did he kill 300,000 of his own people like our "good men and women" did who ordered the war based on their lies? Maybe we should invade ourselves with that same purpose. Those same people ordered the most ungodly torture there in the - get this - name of freedom. Yeah, everything foul we do gets washed in the holy water of that word.

And then if that weren't enough, we let our own soldiers get sick with toxic burning pits that roared 24 hours a day, day in and day out, without providing them any protection. Our military, after using them up and having no further use for them, told them to get lost when they complained about their suffering health.

Our murdering, lying leaders never were arrested and tried for war crimes. The MSM has said nothing about this shameful chapter in our history. I wonder why.

And despite all this our military industrial complex continues to thrive. What was Biden's latest defense budget? $842 BILLION. The fact that 7 of the 10 richest counties in America are in the DC suburbs tells us all we need to know. War is big money and there are some serious evil doers laughing all the way to the bank. Again, not in my fucking name!
