Tarzan has nothing to do with the jungle book. Just saying.
It doesn't really matter. You see, Badeaux encompasses, even surpasses, all of the great books of the woods. He wasn't just lost in the jungle as a child, he was literally "born in a tree". I assure you there will be a book written about him one day. I believe the title will be simply, "Badeaux". But there will be a three or four page autobiographical foreword that is second to none.

Embodiment of the biggest problem in our industry, Macho man.

When I was in college I climbed with a guy who had been working for 6 years and wanted to up his paperwork. He has since won or atlas got into the masters each year at the OTCC. One thing he said in college that i'll never forget is 'the only thing big balls will get you in this industry is an early grave.'
That is one motto I've been sure to pass along to our new guys over my time

Well, I had not seen this thread on treebuzz about this guy.

Instead a friend texted me the other day and wrote, "OMG, check this out" and had a video link to this guy's crane video.

I watched it and was really bothered by it. (I don't like seeing truly unsafe work; it can influence new people in the industry to think it's an acceptable way to work). So, I felt compelled to comment on his youtube video.

Then I read the description and it seemed it must have been tailored, likely after he must have received some comments; but no comments existed.

I then wrote a comment on his video saying that he was likely going to get a lot of flak on that video. Most people try not to invert picks and shock load the crane. I said that I saw his recent description and if he really needed to invert the limbs foliage down, that he could butt tie a tag line to them and slowly invert them.

He wrote back two nasty comments and threatened to put bad comments on my videos if I did not remove my comment from his. He also said that I must deal with tiny cranes and he has way more crane experience than me.

I asked him to re-read my comment again in a different tone and that other past comments must have him on the defensive.

I never deleted my comments, but I checked the next day and mine were wiped out and he adjusted his description once again.

This did piss me off a bit, as my comments were helpful.

Then I come here to treebuzz and read this:

From his company website:

Marshall Badeaux
Creator & Founder

From the very start Marshall set out to make Charleston's very best tree service. His legacy has been well built on aesthetic trimming and removing some of the largest most dangerous trees Mother Nature ever grew from all over this great country. By the time Marshall established Charleston Tree Experts, LLC in his late twenty's he had already surpassed virtually every tree climber ever to come before him. Marshall has completed thousands and thousands of crane picks of hazardous trees which is almost unheard of for any tree climber. As a younger man Marshall spent four years in Colorado where he fine-tuned his skills as a proficient tree removal artisan; having removed tens of thousands of dead trees from over house and structure, most of which the dreaded and notorious Cottonwood. Before establishing Charleston Tree Experts, LLC, Marshall had spent his entire tree climbing career as one of the most sought after tree climbers from all across the land having established himself as a living legend in the industry.
Marshall's roots can be found in the countryside of the North Carolina piedmont where he was literally born and raised in a tree house and in the tree industry from birth by the first and foremast female professional tree climber in recorded history . Similarities can be drawn between the childhood of both Marshall Badeaux and Tarzan from the Jungle Book. We should note the animals that inhabited the wilderness Marshall grew up in were not quite as exotic as in the jungle book. From an early age Marshall learned the craft of the industry observing the operations of his mother's company. By the age the average country boy learns to split wood with an axe, Marshall was well on his way to becoming a high ranking tree climber. In his early twenty's Marshall decided to blaze his own path and set out for Colorado. There he fine-tuned his skills as tree removal specialist with four hard cove years of dead Cottonwood removal throughout the Denver metros area. In 2010 wife Amy, daughter Anastasia, and Marshall moved to the Lowcountry and fell in love with its natural beauty at first sight. Marshall immediately made an impression on the local tree industry as being "The Top Notch Climber''. It didn't take long before Marshall established this fine company with a strong foundation built on hard work, determination, guts, and an overall desire for both his men and himself to always do their very best in providing excellent tree care.
:wtf:

Many of us tree guys have egos and think we are great at what we do. I am definitely guilty of it.

But this is unreal. Comical in fact. Hard to believe that it is on someone's website.

What happened or did not happen in his past to cause him to be like this?

When people boast that they are good, when they truly are not, does piss me off and for some reason I often feel like putting them in their place.

But I don't dislike this guy at all. It's different, I feel really bad for him. It just makes me want to shake my head, no.:endesacuerdo:

How in the world can a person get to this fake elevated level?

He is so falsely high, he needs to be brought down slowly or maybe not by man.

I hope no one invites him to see this buzz thread. He will hate everyone and maybe even snap.

Unfortunately, I feel like God needs to be the one to bitch slap him back to reality and to realize his true skill level.

Likely with an accident or major lawsuit or something that really makes him think.

Poor kid, I honestly feel bad for him. There must have been an odd line up of circumstances that made him this way.

It might be a good mild correction and beneficial to give his video a thumbs down.

It sure would help for new people in the industry to see many thumbs down on crappy crane work like that.

He wrote: "rock out with your cock out" in his credits.:endesacuerdo: That tells a lot.

X, was this threat 'He wrote back two nasty comments and threatened to put bad comments on my videos' made in humour perhaps?
If I haven't watched all your videos I'm pretty confident I've seen most and I know there are guys that know BMP better than me so any comment on your videos would not be wiped away by him and everyone and there brother would blast this joker with legitimate facts. Showing what a hack he is I don't think it would reflect poorly on your practices in your videos at all.

I've thought about having that saw mod done. I was going to go for a 200T for an arm but then they had to come out with that dog, the 201. Gonna just have to deal with this silly old hand till a new saw comes out.
Hmmm 201t a dog.....I laugh at this...try please and understand that strato saws got so much power...just gotta unleash it...back to regular C#NT UP A TREE programming....

I'd just like to point out here that he's getting dirt in the chainsaw chain :endesacuerdo:

And what's with the lasso? Or does he just carry his wire core lanyard around with him?

Who is fielding bets on how he lost that leg?

He didn't lose his leg.. it's behind the saw, his foot is on the hub of the front wheel of the truck... everybody knows you don't trim hillbillies by doing limb reductions... you go right for the dead wood... a neck cut.

I did see that I just thought it was funny, and I'm a believer that everyone should get one warning shot

maybe we could help out with a new rhyme for the end of his next video. Can you all help? Stuff like; "I keep flipping butts to the sky so that hopefully one day I will die".

"For crane picks, this clown says foliage down, shock load that bitch!"

"If ur crane isn't big enough for shock, what da fock."

If that dude could be interviewed; that would be priceless.

How about August Hunicke go interview him? I'll contribute $150 towards it.

I can see August saying, "hmmm" now after the kids many far fetched comments. Hmm, hmm, hmm.

Or a reality TV show with Bad Ass Badeaux, August, me, Bixler, Lawrence Schultz, Daniel Murphy and Glen Riggs.

No staged reality BS needed. Showing every day work. Interesting contrasts and comparisons. Maybe highlight the big interesting jobs only.
